Chapter 35

The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad⁴ for them; and the desert shall rejoice,⁴ and blossom⁴ as the rose.

It shall blossom⁴ abundantly,² and rejoice⁴ even with joy and singing:¹⁵ the glory of Lebanon shall be given⁸ unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see⁴ the glory of the LORD, [and] the excellency of our God.

Strengthen¹⁶ ye the weak hands, and confirm¹⁶ the feeble⁶ knees.

Say³ to them [that are] of a fearful¹² heart, Be strong,³ fear⁴ not: behold, your God will come⁴ [with] vengeance, [even] God [with] a recompence; he will come⁴ and save⁵⁵ you.

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,¹¹ and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.¹¹

Then shall the lame [man] leap¹⁷ as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing:⁴ for in the wilderness shall waters break out,⁸ and streams in the desert.

And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, [shall be] grass with reeds and rushes.

And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called¹¹ The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over⁴ it; but it [shall be] for those: the wayfaring men,^{6 1870} though fools, shall not err⁴ [therein].

No lion shall be there, nor [any] ravenous beast shall go up⁴ thereon, it shall not be found¹¹ there; but the redeemed⁷ shall walk¹ [there]:

And the ransomed⁷ of the LORD shall return,⁴ and come¹ to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain⁵⁵ joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.¹
