Chapter 147

Praise¹⁶ ye the LORD: for [it is] good to sing praises¹⁵ unto our God; for [it is] pleasant; [and] praise is comely.

The LORD doth build up⁶ Jerusalem: he gathereth together¹⁷ the outcasts¹² of Israel.

He healeth⁶ the broken⁷ in heart, and bindeth up¹⁸ their wounds.

He telleth⁶ the number of the stars; he calleth⁴ them all by [their] names.

Great [is] our Lord, and of great power: his understanding [is] infinite. ⁴⁵⁵⁷

The LORD lifteth up⁴² the meek: he casteth the wicked down⁵⁶ to the ground.

Sing³ unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise¹⁶ upon the harp unto our God:

Who covereth¹⁸ the heaven with clouds, who prepareth⁵⁶ rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow⁵⁶ upon the mountains.

He giveth⁶ to the beast his food, [and] to the young ravens which cry.⁴

He delighteth⁴ not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure⁴ in the legs of a man.

The LORD taketh pleasure⁶ in them that fear him, in those that hope¹⁸ in his mercy.

Praise¹⁶ the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise¹⁶ thy God, O Zion.

For he hath strengthened¹⁴ the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed¹⁴ thy children within thee.

He maketh⁶ peace [in] thy borders, [and] filleth⁵⁵ thee with the finest of the wheat.

He sendeth forth⁶ his commandment [upon] earth: his word runneth⁴ very swiftly.

He giveth⁶ snow like wool: he scattereth¹⁷ the hoarfrost like ashes.

He casteth forth⁵⁶ his ice like morsels: who can stand⁴ before his cold?

He sendeth out⁴ his word, and melteth⁵⁵ them: he causeth his wind to blow,⁵⁵ [and] the waters flow.⁴

He sheweth⁵⁶ his word ¹⁶⁹⁷ unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

He hath not dealt¹ so with any nation: and [as for his] judgments, they have not known¹ them. Praise¹⁶ ye the LORD.
