Chapter 124

A Song of degrees of David.
If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;⁴

If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up² against us:

Then they had swallowed us up¹ quick, when their wrath was kindled² against us:

Then the waters had overwhelmed¹ us, the stream had gone over¹ our soul:

Then the proud waters had gone over¹ our soul.

Blessed⁷ [be] the LORD, who hath not given¹ us [as] a prey to their teeth.

Our soul is escaped⁸ as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers:⁶ the snare is broken,⁸ and we are escaped.⁸

Our help [is] in the name of the LORD, who made⁶ heaven and earth.
