Chapter 105

O give thanks⁵⁴ unto the LORD; call³ upon his name: make known⁵⁴ his deeds among the people.

Sing³ unto him, sing psalms¹⁶ unto him: talk³ ye of all his wondrous works.¹²

Glory¹⁰⁰ ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice⁴ that seek¹⁸ the LORD.

Seek³ the LORD, and his strength: seek¹⁶ his face evermore.

Remember³ his marvellous works¹² that he hath done;¹ his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.

He [is] the LORD our God: his judgments [are] in all the earth.

He hath remembered¹ his covenant for ever, the word [which] he commanded¹⁴ to a thousand generations.

Which [covenant] he made¹ with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;

And confirmed⁵⁵ the same unto Jacob for a law, [and] to Israel [for] an everlasting covenant:

Saying,² Unto thee will I give⁴ the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:

When they were [but] a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers⁶ in it.

When they went¹⁰¹ from one nation to another, from [one] kingdom to another people;

He suffered⁵² no man to do them wrong:² yea, he reproved⁵⁵ kings for their sakes;

[Saying], Touch⁴ not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.⁵⁵

Moreover he called⁴ for a famine upon the land: he brake¹ the whole staff of bread.

He sent¹ a man before them, [even] Joseph, [who] was sold⁸ for a servant:

Whose feet they hurt¹⁴ with fetters: he was laid¹ in iron:

Until the time that his word came:² the word of the LORD tried¹ him.

The king sent¹ and loosed⁵⁵ him; [even] the ruler⁶ of the people, and let him go free.¹⁷

He made¹ him lord of his house, and ruler⁶ of all his substance:

To bind² his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.¹⁷

Israel also came⁴ into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned¹ in the land of Ham.

And he increased⁵⁵ his people greatly; and made them stronger⁵⁵ than their enemies.

He turned¹ their heart to hate² his people, to deal subtilly⁹⁹ with his servants.

He sent¹ Moses his servant; [and] Aaron whom he had chosen.¹

They shewed¹ his signs ¹⁶⁹⁷ among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

He sent¹ darkness, and made it dark;⁵⁵ and they rebelled¹ not against his word.

He turned¹ their waters into blood, and slew⁵⁵ their fish.

Their land brought forth frogs in abundance,¹ in the chambers of their kings.

He spake,¹ and there came⁴ divers sorts of flies, [and] lice in all their coasts.

He gave¹ them hail for rain, [and] flaming fire in their land.

He smote⁵⁵ their vines also and their fig trees; and brake¹⁷ the trees of their coasts.

He spake,¹ and the locusts came,⁴ and caterpillers, and that without number,

And did eat⁴ up all the herbs in their land, and devoured⁴ the fruit of their ground.

He smote⁵⁵ also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.

He brought them forth⁵⁵ also with silver and gold: and [there was] not one feeble⁶ [person] among their tribes.

Egypt was glad¹ when they departed:² for the fear of them fell¹ upon them.

He spread¹ a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light⁵³ in the night.

[The people] asked,¹ and he brought⁵⁵ quails, and satisfied⁵⁵ them with the bread of heaven.

He opened¹ the rock, and the waters gushed out;⁴ they ran¹ in the dry places [like] a river.

For he remembered¹ his holy promise, [and] Abraham his servant.

And he brought forth⁵⁵ his people with joy, [and] his chosen with gladness:

And gave⁴ them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited⁴ the labour of the people;

That they might observe⁴ his statutes, and keep⁴ his laws. Praise¹⁶ ye the LORD.
