Chapter 60

To the chief Musician¹⁸ upon Shushaneduth, ^{5715 7802} Michtam of David, to teach;¹⁵ when he strove⁵³ with Aramnaharaim ^{5104 763} and with Aramzobah, ^{6678 760} when Joab returned,⁴ and smote⁵⁵ of Edom in the valley of salt twelve ⁶²⁴⁰ thousand.
O God, thou hast cast us off,¹ thou hast scattered¹ us, thou hast been displeased;¹ O turn thyself to us again.³⁴

Thou hast made the earth to tremble;⁵² thou hast broken¹ it: heal³ the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.¹

Thou hast shewed⁵² thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink⁵² the wine of astonishment.

Thou hast given¹ a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed¹¹¹ because of the truth. Selah.

That thy beloved may be delivered;¹¹ save⁵⁴ [with] thy right hand, and hear³ me.

God hath spoken¹⁴ in his holiness; I will rejoice,⁴ I will divide¹⁷ Shechem, and mete out¹⁷ the valley of Succoth.

Gilead [is] mine, and Manasseh [is] mine; Ephraim also [is] the strength of mine head; Judah [is] my lawgiver;²⁶

Moab [is] my washpot; ⁷³⁶⁶ over Edom will I cast⁵⁵ out my shoe: Philistia, triumph¹¹² thou because of me.

Who will bring⁵⁵ me [into] the strong city? who will lead¹ me into Edom?

[Wilt] not thou, O God, [which] hadst cast us off?¹ and [thou], O God, [which] didst not go out⁴ with our armies?

Give³ us help from trouble: for vain [is] the help of man.

Through God we shall do⁴ valiantly: for he [it is that] shall tread down⁴ our enemies.
