Chapter 48

A Song [and] Psalm for the sons of Korah.
Great [is] the LORD, and greatly to be praised³⁰ in the city of our God, [in] the mountain of his holiness.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, [is] mount Zion, [on] the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

God is known⁸ in her palaces for a refuge.

For, lo, the kings were assembled,⁸ they passed by¹ together.

They saw¹ [it, and] so they marvelled;¹ they were troubled,⁸ [and] hasted away.⁸

Fear took hold upon them¹ there, [and] pain, as of a woman in travail.⁶

Thou breakest¹⁷ the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

As we have heard,¹ so have we seen¹ in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish³⁴ it for ever. Selah.

We have thought¹⁴ of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

According to thy name, O God, so [is] thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full¹ of righteousness.

Let mount Zion rejoice,⁴ let the daughters of Judah be glad,⁴ because of thy judgments.

Walk about³ Zion, and go round about⁵⁴ her: tell³ the towers thereof.

Mark³ ye well her bulwarks, consider¹⁶ her palaces; that ye may tell¹⁷ [it] to the generation following.

For this God [is] our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide¹⁷ [even] unto death.
