Chapter 9

To the chief Musician¹⁸ upon Muthlabben, ¹¹²¹ A Psalm of David.
I will praise⁵⁵ [thee], O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth¹⁷ all thy marvellous works.¹²

I will be glad⁴ and rejoice⁴ in thee: I will sing praise¹⁷ to thy name, O thou most High.

When mine enemies⁶ are turned² back, they shall fall¹¹ and perish⁴ at thy presence.

For thou hast maintained¹ my right and my cause; thou satest¹ in the throne judging⁶ right.

Thou hast rebuked¹ the heathen, thou hast destroyed¹⁴ the wicked, thou hast put out¹ their name for ever and ever.

O thou enemy,⁶ destructions are come to a perpetual end:¹ and thou hast destroyed¹ cities; ⁵⁸⁹² their memorial is perished¹ with them.

But the LORD shall endure⁴ for ever: he hath prepared³¹ his throne for judgment.

And he shall judge⁴ the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment⁴ to the people in uprightness.

The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

And they that know⁶ thy name will put their trust⁴ in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken¹ them that seek⁶ thee.

Sing praises¹⁶ to the LORD, which dwelleth⁶ in Zion: declare⁵⁴ among the people his doings.

When he maketh inquisition⁶ for blood, he remembereth¹ them: he forgetteth¹ not the cry of the humble. ⁶⁰⁴¹

Have mercy³ upon me, O LORD; consider³ my trouble [which I suffer] of them that hate⁶ me, thou that liftest me up³⁵ from the gates of death:

That I may shew forth¹⁷ all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice⁴ in thy salvation.

The heathen are sunk¹ down in the pit [that] they made:¹ in the net which they hid¹ is their own foot taken.⁸

The LORD is known⁸ [by] the judgment [which] he executeth:¹ the wicked is snared¹ in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

The wicked shall be turned⁴ into hell, [and] all the nations that forget God.

For the needy shall not alway be forgotten:¹¹ the expectation of the poor ⁶⁰³⁵ shall [not] perish⁴ for ever.

Arise,³ O LORD; let not man prevail:⁴ let the heathen be judged¹¹ in thy sight.

Put³ them in fear, ⁴¹⁷² O LORD: [that] the nations may know⁴ themselves [to be but] men. Selah.
