Chapter 15

Then sang⁴ Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake,⁴ saying,² I will sing⁴ unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed¹ gloriously:² the horse and his rider⁶ hath he thrown¹ into the sea.

The LORD [is] my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he [is] my God, and I will prepare him an habitation;⁵⁵ my father's God, and I will exalt³⁴ him.

The LORD [is] a man of war: the LORD [is] his name.

Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast¹ into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned²⁷ in the Red sea.

The depths have covered¹⁷ them: they sank¹ into the bottom as a stone.

Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious¹² in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces⁴ the enemy.⁶

And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown⁴ them that rose up against⁵ thee: thou sentest forth¹⁷ thy wrath, [which] consumed⁴ them as stubble.

And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together,⁸ the floods⁶ stood upright⁸ as an heap, [and] the depths were congealed¹ in the heart of the sea.

The enemy⁶ said,¹ I will pursue,⁴ I will overtake,⁵⁵ I will divide¹⁷ the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied⁴ upon them; I will draw⁵⁵ my sword, my hand shall destroy⁵⁵ them.

Thou didst blow¹ with thy wind, the sea covered¹⁴ them: they sank¹ as lead in the mighty waters.

Who [is] like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who [is] like thee, glorious¹² in holiness, fearful¹² [in] praises, doing⁶ wonders?

Thou stretchedst out¹ thy right hand, the earth swallowed⁴ them.

Thou in thy mercy hast led forth¹ the people [which] thou hast redeemed:¹ thou hast guided¹⁴ [them] in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.

The people shall hear,¹ [and] be afraid:⁴ sorrow shall take hold¹ on the inhabitants⁶ of Palestina.

Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed;⁸ the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them;⁴ all the inhabitants⁶ of Canaan shall melt away.⁸

Fear and dread shall fall⁴ upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be [as] still⁴ as a stone; till thy people pass over,⁴ O LORD, till the people pass over,⁴ [which] thou hast purchased.¹

Thou shalt bring them in,⁵⁵ and plant⁴ them in the mountain of thine inheritance, [in] the place, O LORD, [which] thou hast made¹ for thee to dwell in,² [in] the Sanctuary, O Lord, [which] thy hands have established.³¹

The LORD shall reign⁴ for ever and ever.

For the horse of Pharaoh went in¹ with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again⁵⁵ the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went¹ on dry [land] in the midst of the sea.

And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took⁴ a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out⁴ after her with timbrels and with dances.

And Miriam answered⁴ them, Sing³ ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed¹ gloriously;² the horse and his rider⁶ hath he thrown¹ into the sea.

So Moses brought⁵⁵ Israel from the Red sea, and they went out⁴ into the wilderness of Shur; and they went⁴ three days in the wilderness, and found¹ no water.

And when they came⁴ to Marah, they could¹ not drink² of the waters of Marah, for they [were] bitter: therefore the name of it was called¹ Marah.

And the people murmured¹¹ against Moses, saying,² What shall we drink?⁴

And he cried⁴ unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed⁵⁵ him a tree, [which] when he had cast⁵⁵ into the waters, the waters were made sweet:⁴ there he made¹ for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved¹⁴ them,

And said,⁴ If thou wilt diligently² hearken⁴ to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do⁴ that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear⁵² to his commandments, and keep¹ all his statutes, I will put⁴ none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought¹ upon the Egyptians: for I [am] the LORD that healeth⁶ thee.

And they came⁴ to Elim, where [were] twelve ⁶²⁴⁰ wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped⁴ there by the waters.
