Matthew Henry (1662-1714) was born in Shropshire, England and began reading the Bible at age three. He was preaching when he was twenty-four and didn't stop until his death. In 1704 he began collecting his voluminous notes on the Bible into a massive commentary that was well-received by his contemporaries and has served to bring generations of Christians closer to Christ.
