TARBELL, EDMUND C . (1862 ), American artist, was born at West Groton, Mass ., on the 26th of April
pupil of the schools of the Boston
Boulanger and Lefebvre , Paris, and became a distinguished painter of the landscape, of the figure, and of portraits, winning various important prizes and medals at exhibitions. In 1906 he was elected a National Academician, besides being a member of the Ten American Painters, and he became instructor of painting
