  carnivorous mammals from the
Santa
  Cruz beds of
Patagonia
 , represented by the genera Borhyaena, Prothylacinus, Amphiproviverra, &c. By their first describer, Dr F. Ameghino, they were regarded as nearly related to the marsupials. They are, however, more probably members of the creodont
Carnivora

 ).
