RUSSELL, ISRAEL COOK (1852- ) , American geologist, was born at Garrattsville, New York
York
Geologist on the United States Geographical and Geological Surveys in 1878, and in 188o became attached to the Geological Survey of the United States. In 1892 he was appointed professor of geology in the university of Michigan. His publications include Sketch of the Geological History of Lake Lahontan (1885); The Newark System (Bulletin No. 85 U.S. Geol. Survey, 1892) ; Present and Extinct
