FRANCIS OF MAYRONE [FRANCISCUS DE MAYR0NIs] (d. 1325) , scholastic philosopher, was born at Mayrone in

Provence

. He entered the Franciscan order and subsequently went to Paris, where he was a

pupil

in the discussions on the nature of Universals. Following Duns Scotus, he adopted the Platonic theory of ideas, and denied that
