 , flourished about 370 B.C. Fragments from about fifty of the 104 plays attributed to him are preserved in
Athenaeus
 . They show that he took little
interest
  in
political
  affairs, but confined himself chiefly to mythological subjects, ridiculing, when opportunity offered, the bombastic
style
  of the tragedians, especially
Euripides
 . His
language
  is pure, and his versification correct.
