CHARLEVOIX , a
village
  and the county-seat of Charlevoix county, Michigan, U.S.A., 16 m. E.S.E. of Petoskey, on Lake Michigan and Pine Lake, which are connected by Pine river and Round Lake. Pop. (189o) 1496; (190o) 2079; (1904) 2395; (1910) 2420. It is on the main line of the Pere Marquette railway, and during the summer season is served by lake steamers. The
village
  is best known as a summer resort; it is built on bluffs and on a
series
  of terraces rising from Round and Pine lakes and affording extensive views; and there are a number of attractive summer residences. Charlevoix is an important hardwood lumber port, and the principal
industries
  are the manufacture of lumber and of cement; fishing (especially for lake trout and white fish); the raising of sugar beets; and the manufactu're of rustic and fancy
wood
 -
work
 . Charlevoix was settled about 1866, and was incorporated as a village in 1879.
