Hello!

I hope you had a great week and weekend.

If you haven't plugged into the JCSM Discussion Boards yet, what are you waiting for?  Many people have been blessed by our Christian community.  It's free and fun, so click here to read and post some messages to likeminded believers in Jesus.

I've made my Round 2 post in my online debate with a skeptic.  I'm affirming the position that God has excellent character.  Please click here (external link) to read the debate and click here to comment on it.

We want to make some advertisements for your vehicle!  Please email us and tell us which type you'd prefer.  We are considering license plate frames, decals, and bumper stickers.  Plus, if you'd like to donate to this program, please reply to this email.  Your input, your prayers, and your support will be appreciated.

Thanks to those who prayed that JCSM could find some affordable office space in San Diego.  We already have one offer, but we're still seeking the best deal.  Please continue to pray and forward our need to anyone who may be able to help.

One of the students that I teach is about to lead his first worship group.  Please pray for him and his group.  He has become very good, so I'm sure he'll do great.

Please pray for my in-laws.  Someone broke into their house this weekend.  Some important belongings were stolen and we hope that the police catch the thief.

Welcome to the new readers of this message!  Here is your Devotion, A Moment of Introspection, JCSM's Challenge, the Word of the Week, a faith-builder from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained," and the Quotes of the Week.  Have a fantastic week and God bless you!

Love in Christ,

JCSM

"Meeting With the Faithful"

Matthew 18:20  "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

Hebrews 10:24, 25  "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

1 John 1:3  "That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ."

Insight: Christians need other Christians.  Nobody is an island.  We all have spiritual gifts that need to be used to bless other believers.  We also need the blessing of their gifts and encouragement.  Don't isolate yourself, enjoy Christian fellowship, and your faith will increase.

Prayer: "Dear Lord, thank you for Christians.  Thank you for all of the people who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Thank you for the time we can spend with them.  Bless us all and lift us up.  Thank you for making us in a way that we need others and others need us.  Help us to avoid being isolated.  Protect us from the enemy when we are alone and away from those who can encourage and help us.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

America's Foundation

Colony of Georgia 1732, named in honor of King George II, was founded by James Edward Oglethorpe as a refuge for poor debtors from England and persecuted Protestants from Europe.¹  One hundred settlers moved into the area, quickly followed by the Moravians, who were enthusiastic Christian missionaries, and other Christian groups.  As the settlers touched the shore, they kneeled and declared:

"Our end in leaving our native country is not to gain riches and honor, but singly this: to live wholly to the glory of God." ²

Their object was:

"To make Georgia a religious colony." ³

A Moment of Introspection

His mercy is new every morning and it's always morning somewhere.

JCSM's Challenge

Meet and fellowship with other Christians!  Go to church or a Bible study or somewhere where you can hang out with other believers in Christ.

God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!

Word of the Week

koinonia (Greek, see 1 John 1:3): partnership, participation, social intercourse, communion, fellowship

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims:

Exodus 11:4-6 - These verses clearly show the mass murder of innocent children by God (see 12:29-30) was premeditated.

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds:

This was recorded in the Bible.  However, these children were not innocent and neither were their parents or their leaders.  The Egyptians were pagan slave owners who wouldn't give the Hebrews their freedom.  They had ample time to repent and plenty of warnings.  Plus, they knew how to be "passed over," but they ignored the warnings.

(This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained".  This book is on CD and gives over 4,000 answers to alleged Bible errors, regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org.  There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
