The Weekly Devotional Message

Day 1: "Seek God's Face"

Psalm 27:8 "When You said, Seek My face, My heart said to You, Your face, Lord, I will seek."

Psalm 105:4 "Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!"

Proverb 7:15 "So I came out to meet you, Diligently to seek your face, And I have found you."

Prayer: "Thank you for wanting us to seek your face, Lord! You are our awesome God. Reveal yourself to us in awesome ways. Praise You for being consistent and perfect. There's no other God like You. Thank you for rewarding and blessing those who seek your face. Make us like You, Lord. Help us to see You like you truly are. Help us to grow spiritually and leave sinful ideas and actions. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 2: "We Were Bought by God"

1 Corinthians 6:20 "For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

1 Corinthians 7:23 "You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men."

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Prayer: "Thank you for paying for us, Jesus! Remind us that we are yours. Thank you for wanting us, even in our sinful and fallen condition. Thank you for giving us salvation and forgiving us! Let us see ourselves as blameless and righteous, like you see us. Thank you for dying for our sins on the cross. Help us to understand what You did and remember it. To You be the glory, honor and praise! In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 3: "A Child of God"

1 John 3:1 "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him."

Romans 8:16 "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God."

John 1:12 "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."

Prayer: "Thank you for calling us children of God! Thank you for being so good to us, Lord. Praise You for being a perfect Father. Help us to talk to You like a Father. Thank you for knowing what is best. Give us humility before You. Teach us your ways, Lord. Help us to be faithful, godly sons and daughters of God. Give us more faith in You and help us to obey You closely. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 4: "God Never Neglects Us"

Psalm 37:25 "I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread."

Psalm 66:8,9, 20 "Oh, bless our God, you peoples! And make the voice of His praise to be heard, Who keeps our soul among the living, And does not allow our feet to be moved. Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer, Nor His mercy from me!"

Psalm 119:15-16 "My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them."

Prayer: "Thank you for never neglecting me, Lord! Thank you for listening to me any time of the day or night! Praise You for always saying what is right. Help me to listen to you. Praise You for your faithfulness! Thank you for going ahead of me, wherever I go. You are the almighty God. Let me see You. Remind me that You are near and ready to help me in my circumstances. Thank you for your goodness! In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 5: "Lift Your Hands!"

Psalm 28:2 "Hear the voice of my supplications When I cry to You, When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary."

Psalm 63:4 "Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name."

Psalm 119:48 "My hands also I will lift up to Your commandments, Which I love, And I will meditate on Your statutes."

Psalm 134:2 "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, And bless the Lord."

Lamentations 3:41 "Let us lift our hearts and hands To God in heaven."

Prayer: "Thank you for wanting us to lift our hands to You! Let us obey You. Praise You for being so good and true! Thank you for the awesome feeling when I raise my hands to You! Help the shy and reserved people to raise their hands to You, Lord. Thank you for wanting our sincere praise, worship and obedience. Help us to do what your Word says, no matter what the costs. Thank you for blessing and rewarding obedience! In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 6: "God is the Standard"

Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

John 15:10 "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love."

John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments."

Matthew 16:24 "Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."

Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma."

Prayer: "Thank you for being our standard, God. Help us to be like You and keep striving for godliness. Pick us up when we fall. Forgive us when we sin. Lift us up when we feel guilty or ashamed. Thank you for your love! Help us to love like You do. Let us not pattern our life after an earthly person, but after You! Help us not to allow sin in our life because another human does. Fix our eyes on You. Remind us that You satisfy us like nothing else can or will. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 7: "Life Has Just Begun"

Matthew 25:46 "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

John 10:28 "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand."

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Prayer: "Thank you for giving us eternal life! Woohoo! Let us rejoice with the knowledge that we are Heaven-bound! Praise You, Lord! Thank you for rescuing us and pulling us out of the pit. You are our redeemer and the giver of life! Remind us that we are saved! Remind us that we will be in Heaven, forever. Give us great hope and faith. Thank you for your Word and your promises in it! Let us cling to them. You are a great God! To You be all the glory, honor and praise, forever and ever! In Jesus' name, Amen."

Challenge

Find your spiritual gifts! All believers have spiritual gifts from God. Do you know yours? The Bible lists them here: 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12:1-13. Pray for God to reveal your gifts to you. Ask Him to give you the things you don't have, too.

Make a list of five ways God has provided for you this past week.

We were all bought by God.

Not all will apply the freedom in Christ to their lives.

Don't forget about the discipline of the Lord.

The wrath of God is appeased by the death of Christ.

The more you know about someone, the more things you know you can pray about.

God is not angry like He was before.

God has not only called us blameless, He has called us righteous.

God is my supreme court.

Jesus knows everything about us before we tell Him.

God is a better lawyer than Johnny Cochran.

Jesus did not quote on of the ten commandments as the greatest, He quoted from Deuteronomy 19. We should keep all of God's commandments.

There are 613 commandments: 365 negative and 248 positive ones.

Give your doubts to the Lord and ask for faith to follow Christ.

Have confidence in Jesus. He will refresh your faith.

People may never see I need human love because I'm getting so much love from God.

Where's the love?

The satisfaction the world offers is like eating Chinese food - you're hungry right after you eat it.

Choosing worldly things over godly things is like choosing size 36 pants when you have a size 40 waist.

Don't fight what God wants to do in your life.

Surrender and listen to God.

You cannot improve on God's work.

God meets every need and satisfies fully.

If you can think about the things of God while hearing a certain band or person speak, you're probably in a good place.

It will take God in your life if you want satisfaction.

Do you long for leaving and cleaving?

God not only grants us our life, He guides us as well.

Make this your "thank God" day.

God asks the rhetorical question, "Where have you been?"

Isn't every question that God asks rhetorical?

When you have patience, you recognize the anxious people.

Arrive alive - don't drink and drive.

Practice thinking right.

Use your imagination.

We serve a Lord who loves us and wants to help us.

Does worship take you to another place, like another dimension?

Some relationships need to be reconciled more than once.

Truth gets more obvious in time.

Feel the heat of love descend.

Whether we suffer because of sin or righteousness, we can rejoice that God pardons our sin and defends us from our enemies.

When you sin, do you casually say, "I'm sorry," or do you feel like David did?

Don't take God's forgiveness for granted. Humbly repent and go in confidence, knowing you are forgiven.

Is God calling you to trust Him to carry you over some dangerous impasses in your Christian pilgrimage?

Take a step of faith this week that demonstrates you have put your faith on the line.

God's people must learn to trust Him with all their affairs. Trust involves commitment, patience, delight in the Lord and obedience.

What is God's good, perfect and acceptable will for you?

Don't be afraid to use your gifts.

We're all waiting on God. Patience is difficult, but necessary.

Why are there more complainers than encouragers?

The people who keep saying nice, edifying things have the gift of exhortation.

Pray for the gifts and qualities you don't have.

Some people can have a serious relationship with Christ and serve Him wholeheartedly, but when a person of the opposite sex comes into their life, they run into problems.

Serve the Lord.

Do you want to rejoice with those who are rejoicing?

You can make your city a wonderful place by being a Christian.

Act like a Christian in your business affairs.

Our spiritual gifts can change the world with God's power.

God will put people in your path that need you.

A seat belt may keep you from getting hurt, but God is really the one keeping you safe.

Does you make your face look like you've been baptized by lemon juice?

Are you trying to help or get in the way?

God cares for those who try to live a life set apart for His service.

Develop a relationship with God.

David found satisfaction only in his relationship with God.

God is the ultimate Father.

Stop trying to play God.

Be very thankful if you have or had a godly father.

Do you know someone who is a living testimony of the power of God? Don't forget about them.

The most common word Jesus used for God was "Father."

You may not know your earthly father, but you can know your Heavenly Father.

God rejoices when anyone turns to Him.

If you're using your talents for God, then you're using them for the right reasons. If you're using them for yourself, you're using them for the wrong reasons.

God is the most fulfilling thing you could have.

When I'm walking with God, I have nothing to worry about.

God will never run out of the ability, desire or resources to take care of you.

As quickly as you repent, God will forgive your sins.

God knows our feelings.

When we run from God, He can hardly wait for us to return to Him.

We give God our sin and He gives us His Holy Spirit! We give Him our pain and He gives us healing! We give Him our weakness and He gives us His strength! Is there a better deal?

Let God shine through you.

Don't take God's name and do evil.

God calls you a Christian as soon as you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. He doesn't want until you've been one for several years.

If you're doing your own thing, without acknowledging God in your life, you aren't experiencing His power.

Which area of your life are you wasting?

The world sees me as unforgiven.

This isn't an illusion.

There is a smile of joy and a smile of deceit.

All false teaching undermines saving faith, but not every false teaching necessarily overthrows saving faith.

Scripture must interpret Scripture.

We reject the use of feminine names and pronouns for God because in Scripture God reveals himself as Father and Son.

No matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.

It's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts.

You shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do, but to the best you can do.

Don't worry if you're standing on the Rock.

It's not what happens to people that's important, but it's what they do about it.

You can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

Leave loved ones with loving words.

You usually can keep going long after you think you can't.

We are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

Heroes are the people who do what has to be done, when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

There are people who love you dearly, but just don't know how to show it.

My best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

Sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

Being angry doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

True love and friendship grow despite how many miles are in between the people in the relationship.

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

Maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

You should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would be if they believed it.

No matter how good a friend is, they're probably going to hurt you once in a while and you must forgive them.

No matter how badly your heart is broken the world won't stop for your grief.

Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

Just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. Just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

Friends change.

A secret could change your life forever.

Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

Those who are honest with themselves get further in life.

Writing and talking can ease emotional pain.

Credentials on your wall don't make you a godly person.

If we are to make a difference, we must believe that God can.

How has the Bible transformed your life?

Life is an adventure directed by God.

Love God indefinitely.

God has spared me a lot of well-deserved grief.

People can get their feelings hurt by looking at them the wrong way.

It feels great to get fools out of my face.

Let people share in your successes.

Some people are so stuck in their doubt, worry and fear, they can't be pulled out by me.

Someone knows you better than you know yourself.

If you don't like something, explore why.

Even Christian friends need tons of grace, mercy and forgiveness.

I really want to believe the truth, even if it totally goes against my logic.

I just realized that all the people I spend time with are believers.

Loving the inner qualities of someone helps you love the outer qualities.

Don't simply stamp a spiritual band-aid on the situation.

A mom or wife who is growing closer to the Lord through studying His Word makes for a happier home.

Is Jesus the last person on your mind when you go to sleep? Is He the first person on your mind when you wake up? Do you eat, sleep and breathe Jesus Christ?

Doesn't living for yourself sound a little selfish?

You don't know what it's like to be forgiven by God for your sins. If you knew, you'd embrace Him.

If you're going to have an opinion, make it correspond with the Bible.

People make up stories in their mind to keep themselves from believing there is a higher power and someone to be accountable to.

Life is what you make it, but it isn't much without God.

Let others help.

Why worry about what will happen tomorrow when you don't know what will happen in two seconds?

The opportunity of a lifetime must be seized during the lifetime of the opportunity.

Lord, help me understand what I'm feeling.

A partial truth is a complete lie.

Which things or people cause you to change your schedule?
