This is the Weekly Devotional Message from

Jesus Christ Saves Ministries

Hello.

Thank you for writing me and requesting devotions. I enjoy writing them and sending them.

I went to Los Angeles this Thursday through Saturday to help with a Youth for Christ Super conference called DC LA '97. It was awesome! Thousands of kids were trained in evangelism and heard Christian speakers for encouragement. Quite a few kids came forward and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and rededicated their lives to Him. Many popular contemporary Christian bands were there, too. I was working as an intercessory prayer warrior. I grew spiritually and had the chance to pray with many people. Praise the Lord!

Please do not put this screen name on any mailing lists. I only use this one to send devotions.

Enjoy this week's devotions.

Love in Jesus,

Jason A. Gastrich

Monday: "We're Aliens"

1 Peter 2:11 "Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul."

Hebrews 11:13 "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth."

Tuesday: "Perfection"

Deuteronomy 32:4 "He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he."

2 Samuel 22:31, 33 "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect."

Isaiah 55:8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord."

1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."

Prayer: "Thank you for being perfect, Lord. There is none other like you in all of the universe. Praise You! Everything You do is awesome. Your ways are not out ways. Give us more faithfulness to You, since You are a perfect God and much wiser than us. Thank you that we love and serve a living, awesome God. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Wednesday: "Listening"

Proverbs 1:8, 9 "Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck."

Psalm 46:10a "Be still, and know that I am God;"

1 Kings 19:12 "After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper."

Proverbs 2:1-9 "My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Then you will understand what is right and just and fair--every good path."

(See my web page for "Listening to God's Voice," a Bible lesson from Samuel.)

Prayer: "Thank you for talking to us, Jesus. We know that You are never silent. Open our ears to your calling and instruction. Thank you for conviction from Your Holy Spirit. Thank you for Your Word. Make us read and become wise and holy like You. Thank you for ears to hear and eyes to read. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Thursday: "Have Mercy"

Micah 6:8 "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

Matthew 12:7 "If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent."

Matthew 5:7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."

Jude 1:22 "Be merciful to those who doubt."

Matthew 18:33 "Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?"

Prayer: "Thank you for having mercy on us, Lord. Remind us of our imperfections, your unconditional love and your command to have mercy on others. Give us patience and more love for you and others. Thank you that we are not perfect and can understand how mankind can fail and sin. Make us more faithful to You, Jesus. Thank you that we are not tempted more than we can bear. Take away any evil or sin in our hearts and give us good motives and pure hearts. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Friday: "Meekness-Power Under Control"

2 Corinthians 10:1 "By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you--I, Paul, who am 'timid' when face to face with you, but 'bold' when away!"

Colossians 3:12 "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."

Matthew 5:5 "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."

Psalm 37:11 "But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace."

Prayer: "Make us meek, Lord. Make us humble before You and confident before mankind. Thank you for making us strong, yet humble. Remind us that meekness isn't weakness, it's respect for You and others and having power under control. Thank you for changing us from the inside-out. In Jesus' name, Amen."
