Bible Trivia Question:
What does love keep no record of?
(the answer is below)
Bible Trivia Answer:
Wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:4, 5 "Love....keeps no record of wrongs."
Quotes of the Week:
1) David's mistakes brought him closer to Christ in the end.
2) David committed many sins, but he came back to God and asked Him for forgiveness.
3) If we were to take the Holy Spirit out of the church, how much of your church would there be left? Hopefully nothing.
4) There's only two things we can do on earth that we can't do in Heaven: sin and share our faith. And we weren't put here to sin.
5) Making a difference in someone's life takes time.
6) Our weakness is a good thing, because it causes us to focus on God.
7) Our skills and talents make us tools, but our failures and shortcomings remind us that we need a craftsman in control of our lives.
8) A winner never quits and a quitter never wins.
9) You can usually trace any human suffering or terrible world condition back to a wrong choice. If you go back far enough, you would start with Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.
10) Nearly nobody is on time. People are either early or late. And they're usually not early.
Song of the Week:
My Will
by DC Talk
(currently number one in the Christian music charts)
I'm setting the stage for the thing I love
And I'm now the man I once couldn't be
Nothing on earth could now ever move me
I now have the will and the strength a man needs
Chorus:
D G
It's my will, I'm not moving
D A
Cause if it's your will, then nothing can shake me
It's my will, to bow and praise you
I now have the will to praise my God
Complexity haunts me, for I am two men
Entrenched in a battle that I'll never win
My discipline fails me, my knowledge it fools me
But you are my shelter, all the strength that I need
I'm learning to give up the rights to myself
The bits and the pieces I've gathered as wealth
Could never compare to the joy that you bring me
The peace that you show me is the strength that I need
We've got to be children of peace
The Bible and the TV Guide
On the table, side by side:
The Holy Bible and the TV Guide.
One is well worn but cherished with pride,
No, not the Bible, but the TV Guide.
One is used daily to help folks decide;
No, it isn't the Bible; it's the TV Guide.
As the pages are turned, what shall they see?
Oh, what does it matter -- turn on the TV.
Then confusion reigns; they can't all agree
On what they shall watch on the old TV.
So they open the book in which they confide.
No, not the Bible, the TV Guide.
The Word of God is seldom read,
Oh, maybe a verse as they fall into bed
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be,
Not from reading the Bible, but from watching TV.
So then back to the table, side by side,
Is the Holy Bible and the TV Guide.
No time for prayer, no time for the Word.
The plan of salvation is seldom heard.
Forgiveness of sin, so full and free,
Is found in the Bible, not on TV.

Lord, throughout this day,
As I try to follow You,
Let this be my rule to live by:
What Would Jesus Do?
-><-
When a friend or loved one
Asks me for a moment or two,
May I think of one thing only:
What Would Jesus Do?
-><-
In all my dealings, help me
To be honest, fair and true,
To measure each decision by:
What Would Jesus Do?
-><-
When I'm feeling troubled
And I turn in prayer to You,
Give me wisdom to decide:
What Would Jesus Do?
-><-
And let me promise each new day
To live my whole life through,
In love and peace, remembering:
What Would Jesus Do?
-><-
Then when the day is ended,
May I resolve anew
To guide tomorrow by the motto:
What Would Jesus Do?
A Smile
"A SMILE costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it. A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business, and is the countersign of friendship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and is nature's best antidote for trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give."
-- based on the writings of Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch
Nerds vs. Jocks
Here's some sobering news..........
KIDS often struggle with the question "Is it better to be a jock or a nerd?" Maybe the following statistics will help them decide.
Michael Jordan will make over $300,000 a game: $10,000 a minute, assuming he averages 30 minutes per game. Assuming $40 million in endorsements next year, he'll be making $178,100 a day (working or not)! Assuming he sleeps 7 hours a night, he makes $52,000 every night while visions of sugarplums dance in his head. If he goes to a movie, it'll cost him $7.00, but he'll make $18,550 while he's in there. If he decides to have a 5 minute egg, he'll make $618 while boiling it. He makes $7,415/hr more than the minimum wage (after the wage hike). He'll make $3710 while watching each episode of Friends. If he wanted to save up for a new Acura NSX($90,000) it would take him a whole 12 hours! If someone were to hand him a salary and endorsement money, they would have to do it at a rate of $2.00 every second. He'll probably pay around $200 for a nice round of golf, but will be reimbursed $33,390 for that round. Assuming he puts a federal maximum of 15% of his income into his tax deferred account(401K), he will hit the federal cap of $9500 for such accounts at 8:30 a.m. on January 1st,1997. If you were given a tenth of a penny for every dollar he made, you would be living comfortably at $65,000 a year. He'll make about $19.60 while watching the 100 meter dash in the Olympics. He'll make about $15,600 while the Boston Marathon is being run. While the common person is spending about $20 for a meal in his trendy Chicago restaurant, he'll pull in about $5600. Next year, he'll make more than twice as much as all of our past presidents for all their terms combined. Amazing isn't it?
BUT... MICHAEL JORDAN WOULD HAVE TO SAVE 100% OF HIS INCOME FOR OVER 300 YEARS TO HAVE A NET WORTH EQUIVALENT TO THAT OF BILL GATES!
