Jesus Christ Saves Ministries

Devotions for October 6th through 10th

Monday "Use Your Whole Heart"

Proverbs 3:5, 6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Jeremiah 29:13 "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

Colossians 3:23 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."

Revelation 3:15, 16 "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth."

Prayer: "Thank you for loving us, Lord. Remind us how important it is to do things with all of our heart, especially when we seek You. Thank you for revealing yourself to us when we diligently seek You. Don't let us be lukewarm, make us turn back to You when we become half-hearted Christians. Thank you for rewarding true, sincere, seeking Christians. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Tuesday "God's Mercy is Great"

Romans 15:9 "...glorify God for his mercy..."

Ephesians 2:4, 5 "But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved."

2 John 1:3 "Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father's Son, will be with us in truth and love."

Prayer: "Thank you for your incredible mercy, Lord. Your mercy is why we exist. Don't let it end. Give us mercy for others. We know that your mercy is more than we deserve. Praise the Lord! In Jesus' name, Amen."

Wednesday "Peace"

Proverb 14:30 "A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones."

Isaiah 48:18 "If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea."

Philippians 4:6, 7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:9 "Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."

Prayer: "Give us peace, Lord. Take away our worries, anxieties and fears. Help us to breathe deeply, look up and know that you are in perfect and total control. Thanks for saving us and giving us a limit on the time we must spend on this earth. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Thursday "Keep Your Eyes on Jesus"

Proverb 4:23 "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."

Hebrews 12:2 "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Romans 13:14 "Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature."

Prayer: "Help us to keep our eyes on You, Jesus. Give us Godly perspectives on our daily routine. Make us give up things that take time away from worshiping and seeking and serving You. Thank you for our freedom. Give us wisdom to use it wisely. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Friday "Have Patience"

Proverb 19:11 "A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense."

Psalm 90:12 "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom."

Ecclesiastes 7:8 "The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride."

Hebrews 12:6 "We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised."

James 1:2, 3 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops patience and perseverance."

Prayer: "Help us to be joyfully patient. Thank you for giving a time limit on all temptations and even life itself on earth. Make us count our days and cry out to you for strength to endure with patience. Give us joy, self-control and wisdom, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Challenge:

Tithe. It is a command of God to tithe. The word tithe actually means 10%. Give 10% of your earnings to God. You can give to your church, a charity, my ministry, or whomever you wish. If you do not have a job, you can give 10% of your time. God will bless you for your obedience.

Malachi 3:8-10 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse--the whole nation of you--because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it."

Did You Know That...

Compare these two statements made almost 2,000 years apart. The first was made by the Apostle John: "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name (Revelation 13:16-17). Now compare that to these words penned by Terry Galanoy, the former director of communications for Visa International: "Protesting too loudly about it isn't going to help either, because the distrurbance you kick up is going to end up on one of your files. And on that come-and-get-it day when we're all totally and completely dependent upon our card--or whatever survival device might replace it--you might be left all alone without one!" (Terry Galanoy, Charge It! New York: Putnum Publishers 1980)

--This excerpt is from the book called "301 Startling Proofs and Prophecies, Proving That God Exists," by Peter and Paul LaLonde. It has strengthened my faith and I highly suggest getting it.
