This is the Weekly Devotional Message from
Jesus Christ Saves Ministries
Devotions for October 27th through 31st
Monday "Have Mercy on Others"
Matthew 23:23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former."
James 3:17 "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy."
Prayer: "Give us more mercy on others, Lord. Thank you for the incredible amount of mercy and patience that you've had on us. Give us joy and help us to see the good and the potential in others. In Jesus' name, Amen."
Tuesday "Things Are Not As They Seem"
Mark 10:31 "But many that are first shall be last; and the last first."
Matthew 23:11, 12 "But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted."
Matthew 18:4 "Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
James 2:5 "Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?"
Prayer: "Give us humility and meekness, Lord. Keep our eyes on You and eternal things (like people). Remind us that the worldly struggle for fame and fortune will mean nothing in Heaven. Thank You for being an awesome God and giving us your perfect Word--the instruction manual for life. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Wednesday "Repentance"
Ezekiel 18:32 "For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!"
Matthew 4:17 "From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
Revelation 3:19 "Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent."
Prayer: "Thank you for giving us the chance to repent. Give us courage to ask You for forgiveness and repent from our sins. Thank you for making our lives so much better after we have repented from our sins. Praise You for knowing best! In Jesus' name, Amen."
Thursday "The Way is Narrow"
Luke 13:24 "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to."
Matthew 7:13, 14 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
Prayer: "Thank you that you have given us salvation, Jesus. Remind us that even if we don't see a world-wide revival or our neighbors come to Christ, the way is narrow and few find it. Encourage us with thoughts of Heaven and rest in eternity. Give us strength, wisdom and love for You and the lost. In Jesus' name, Amen."
Friday "A Taste"
Revelation 3:16-18 "So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see."
Prayer: "Remind us that we need You, Lord. Give us more faithfulness to You, even though this world, in the information age, thinks they are becoming enlightened in other ways. Only You never change. Only You give us hope. And only You rose from the dead and died for our sins. Remind us that life begins at the cross. In Jesus' name, Amen."
Challenge:
Give. Give something to someone. Whether it be a simple cup of water or $50. You decide. People who give get more in return. They get blessings, eternal rewards and tangible blessings, too. If we do not give, God often takes from us. I pray that you experience the joy of giving this week.
Did You Know That....
Hundred year storms are storms so powerful that they happen only once every hundred years or so. By one count there have been four such storms in the last five years. Here in North America, our thoughts go to Hurricane Andrew, or the flooding of the Mississippi Valley (or El Nino or the terrible hurricanes in Mexico). But such phenomena stretch well beyond North America. A recent report was created by 1,580 scientists from over 69 nations. Titled "World Scientists Warning to Humanity," it concluded that "Human beings and the natural world are on a collision course." Even Time Magazine in reporting hurricanes, tornadoes and monsoons refer to "weird weather phenomena." Jesus, in describing the last days, said to watch for "the sea and the waves roaring," in Luke 21:25.
