Relaxation Techniques
Before prayer try relaxing the following items of your body. Stretch or wiggle the body parts if
necessary. Take deep breaths and pray to relax the most anxious parts that you cannot make
relax on your own. When you've finished relaxing, pray to God. When you're finished praying,
awaken and wiggle the parts of your body that you just relaxed. Do this in reverse order.
1) The toes
2) The balls of the feet
3) The arches of the feet
4) The heels
5) The ankles
6) The calves
7) The knees
8) The thighs
9) The groin
10) The buttocks
11) The spine
12) The stomach
13) The chest cavity
14) The shoulders
15) The upper and lower arms
16) The wrists
17) The hands
18) The neck
19) The throat
20) The chin
21) The jaw (let it sag and hang open if that is most comfortable)
22) The eyes
23) The cranial area
24) The scalp
25) Every other muscle, vein and fiber
26) The forehead
