Harold Rawlings - The History of the English Bible
During Louisiana Baptist University's graduation week, Dr. Harold Rawlings, son of Dr. John Rawlings, gave a lecture. He spoke on the history of the English Bible.

Rawlings has a large collection of very old Bibles.
On eBay, a Geneva Bible runs between $1000 and $3000.
In the 1970s, according to a survey, the Bible has influenced Americans more than any other book.
About 42% of people read the Bible on a weekly basis. Only about 12% read the Bible every day.

"eat, drink, and be merry"
"the truth shall make you free"
"the powers that be"
Tyndale also revived many words that are still in use, today. These include:
Jehovah, Passover, scapegoat, longsuffering, peacemaker, beautiful, etc.
Tyndale was one of the primary architects of today's English language.
God preserves His Word.
We have a measure of liberty that no country has ever enjoyed.
There is a number of countries where the Bible is a forbidden book.
There are so many things that distract us, today.
There used to be three television channels, CBS, NBC, and ABC. Today, there are over 200 channels.
The religious disputes used to be between Baptists and Methodists and such, but now they're between very different religions.
