From December 16^th through December 30^th, in the year 2001, my wife and I visited Israel. We landed in Tel Aviv, drove to Netanya, Mt. Carmel, Haifa, Megiddo, Nazareth, Tiberias, the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, Masada, Jerusalem and many places in between!

If you are considering visiting Israel or if you just want to see some places inside the country, here are some links for you. Click and enjoy! God bless.

The YMCA 3 Arches Hotel in Jerusalem - We stayed here for one week. They had a huge, free, buffet breakfast. Plus, they had nice rooms and service. We were also blessed with a Christmas Eve service in one of their vaulted, decorative buildings.

Israel Nature and National Parks Authority - This site is the home of the organization that oversees and controls all of Israel's National Parks (like Masada, Qumran, Bet Shean, Caesarea, etc.).

The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel - This organization is located in Ein Gedi. They have a school, restaurant and dorm beds there. They aim to preserve Israel's shoreline (among other things) and have planned, nature hikes and events.

The Galilean Pilgrim - This company gave us an inexpensive, boat ride on the Sea of Galilee! It was short and sweet. According to their site, they have several different tour options.

Egged Tours - The Egged bus, tour company sort of dominates the bus tour market in Israel. We rented a car and didn't need their services.

The Bible Lands Museum - Jerusalem's Bible Lands Museum was a three floor museum with all kinds of artifacts from Bible times and Bible places.

The Second Temple Model - The famous, second temple model in the Holyland Hotel was well worth our long walk! It was built at a scale of 1:50 and it reveals the whole city of Jerusalem in Christ's time.

The Hotel Mizpe-Yam - This was the first hotel we called home. It was only steps from the beach in Netanya. There was a free breakfast and friendly service.

Israel's Weather - This is the Jerusalem Post's (Israel's largest, English newspaper) weather report.

The Ramparts Walking Tour - This site has an excellent picture of all the gates in Jerusalem. Photocopy it and bring it with you, so you can find your bearings.

Egypt's Consular Information Sheet - If you're planning on visiting Israel's neighbor to the Southwest, you'll want to see this site.

The Israel National News - A web-based, current news site, written in English.

Israel, the West Bank and Gaza's Consular Information Sheet - Before you visit these often tumultuous areas, check this site.

The Jerusalem Hotel Association - You may find the perfect hotel here, however, my wife and I waited until we got to Israel to find great, inexpensive hotels.

Tips For Travelers to the Middle East and Africa - Preparatory information such as passports, visas, health, legal, currency, dress, etc. There is also a country-by-country synopsis of regulations and issues.

U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs - The main site for U.S. tourists planning to visit other countries.

The United States Embassy in Israel - Keep their phone number and address handy.

SwissAir - The airline that kept serving us more and more food! Incidentally, they delayed getting my luggage to me. It arrived a day after I did. Nonetheless, SwissAir had the best rate and service, so I'd use them again.

El Al Airlines - Israel's national airline and debatably the safest airline in the world. They have a very regimented and renowned check-in process, yet I found them friendly and efficient.
