About a week ago, I was truly blessed at a Bible conference called Steeling the Mind.  Compass International organized this conference and I was able to hear lessons from the following people: Tim LaHaye, Kent Hovind, Chuck Missler, Ed Hindson, Mike Gendron, Ken Ham, Frank Peretti, John Ankerberg and several others!

I brought my laptop and took detailed notes.  Since this conference impacted me so much, I wanted to send you my notes.  You can click the bookmarks below and they will take you to the part of this message that corresponds to the bookmark.  This is a long message, so I'm sure the bookmarks will help you navigate it.

A The 7 Most Important Spiritual Gifts@

There are many lists of spiritual gifts in the Bible. Ephesians 4 is one of them. Romans 12 is another. This lesson is from Romans 12.

Every believer has at least the gift of faith.

These words are derived from the same, Greek word.

When you use your spiritual gifts, you will have a maximum of energy and a minimum of frustration.

All of us need to be willing to serve the Lord, even if it= s not one of our motivational gifts.

There are likely one or two gifts that we feel compelled or motivated to do.

Some of the spiritual gifts counter or compliment each other, so it= s not likely that you have every gift.

1. Gift of Prophecy

The gift of proclamation and declaration of God= s Word. This kind of person would tell you that you need to repent. They will call you to spiritual action in your life.

The prophet is to preach in faith and confidence. This is a verbal gift. When the prophet recognizes the cause of God is at stake, he or she cannot be quiet.

If any gift is lacking in the U.S. today, it= s the gift of prophecy. Not enough people are calling us to obeying the Word of God.

2. Gift of Serving

This is a non-verbal gift. A servant is meant to meet your practical needs. This word is derived from the same Greek word as deacon.

The servant wants others to go first. They are basically unselfish.

3. Gift of Teaching

This is the motivation to explain and clarify the truth. The prophet will give you the big picture. The teacher will give you the details.

The teachers will be learners who learn and study a lot.

The key for teachers is fervency! Don= t let your teaching get stayle.

Teaching is a verbal gift.

Teachers want to help people understand the truth. They think they= ll accept the truth if they just understand it.

4. Gift of Exhortation

The Greek word comes from A paraclete@ (which is the word that describes the Holy Spirit).

The people who exhort are encouraging and they are also optimists.

Barnabas had this gift and encouraged the apostle Paul. Paul had the gift of prophecy and likely teaching.

Thank God for the encouragers who haven= t given up on us.

Encouragers are the most patient people of all these gifts. They are likely the best prayer warriors, too. When they say they will pray for you, they really will.

5. Gift of Giving

Some people are driven to give.

A person with the gift of giving understand that giving is investing in the works of God.

6. Gift of Administration (Ruler) and Organization

The person with this gift can get 20 people to paint the church (for example). He or she helps us to get the job done efficiently.

If you= re in charge of the clock, make sure you= re on time.

The person with this gift needs to organize people (even if it= s for their own good).

7. Gift of Empathy (Mercy)

The mercy shower wants to relieve your pain. This person literally has the gift of tears.

These people find people in crises and ministers to them. They rejoice with people who are rejoicing and weep with those that are weeping.

- God knew that people needed people with all kinds of gifts to lead them to Christ. People with all different gifts lead people to Christ and earn their respect to give them the gospel in different ways.

- Jesus was the epitome of all of these gifts.

- We respect Jesus for many reasons, but we surely see His spiritual gift(s) that matches ours.

Ken Ham - Answers In Genesis

John 3:12 A If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

The Bible touches on Geology, Biology, Anthropology, Astrology and Physics.

Don= t take man= s interpretation of the evidence to interpret the Bible. Use the Bible to explain things and real science will confirm it.

We all agree on the real science of the presence. We disagree with scientists who .

Your belief system helps you determine how you interpret the facts.

The culture isn= t hearing the gospel message because they think the Bible has been disproven in several areas (like science).

The Bible isn= t a science textbook and we should be happy about this because science textbooks change every year.

We need to find what the world is doing to undermine the Word, so we can know where to reach them.

When people have answers to their questions about non-theological issues regarding the Bible, they can gain respect for it and consider the gospel message.

85-90% of church kids go to public school.

In Sunday school, we need to teach kids regular subjects from a biblical perspective, so the public school teaching that offends the Bible will not be the only teaching on those subjects they receive.

Anthropology - We all came from one man - Adam. When you split up the gene pool, into many different groups that only interbreed with each other, they will gain like characteristics.

Science is catching up with the Bible because they= re realizing all people are one race.

All human beings have basically the same skin color. Some simply have more or less melanin. Nobody is black and nobody is white. We are all different shades.

Biology - God made distinct kinds to reproduce after their kinds. Dogs have always been dogs. They reproduce dogs.

Geology - All you see is rock layers, all over the Earth, with fossils laid there by water. This is obvious proof of the worldwide flood.

Because you can trust the Bible in many areas, you can trust it in the areas of morality and salvation.

If you believe the world evolved over millions of years, then cancer came before Adam. Surely, this didn= t happen. God wouldn= t have called cancer A good@ , when he created things in Genesis.

We see dinosaur bones that had cancer in them.

If you had death and bloodshed years before sin, then you destroyed the whole gospel.

People who believe things evolved in millions of years are ones that believe secular interpretations of the fossils.

Even the people Jesus healed and rose from the dead eventually died.

People die every day and it= s because of sin.

The deaths on 9/11 were the same as other deaths because all death happens because of sin.

You can believe in things evolving over millions of years and be consistent with the gospel.

If you believe the Bible= s history, you have a source of absolutes. You have a basis for right and wrong.

Denying biblical creation is denying the entire message of the Bible because it= s embracing secular thinking and reasoning and lowering the authority of the Word of God.

You don= t get millions of years from the Bible. You get millions of years from man= s authority.

Some churches are compromising with the world by embracing their viewpoint on certain issues (like evolution, homosexuality, etc.).

People are not the authority over God.

Woodrow Kroll - Back To the Bible Ministries

He has about 10 million people a year hearing his messages. His web site gets 19 million visits per month.

Most people don= t want to be treated the way Christians treat God.

If my Father is happy in Heaven, then my wife is happy on Earth. If my wife is happy on Earth, then my Father is happy in Heaven.

Intimacy with God is wanting to know Him so completely and wanting to be near Him so intimately there is nothing that you will stop you from doing it.

Get to know God= s person, not some understanding of Him or experience with Him.

David thirsted for closeness with God.

A lot of people know God, but don= t know Him in the way that produces intimacy.

Would you like your spouse to know you only because they read a book about you?

Live your life in a way that you would rather die than not know God intimately.

A heart is restless until it rests in God.

Until we know God intimately, God can only be a cosmic grandfather that we hand our shopping lists.

You can go much deeper into God because He wants you to.

If God didn= t want you to know Him intimately, you would be unable to do so.

1. God always wants you to be closer to Him. God will make it possible for you.

2. God initiates intimacy with us.

3. God is only knowable through Jesus Christ.

A lot of people want a relationship with God and hang around the outside, but don= t go deeper because they don= t realize there= s more.

God pursues us.

We pursue God only because He puts an impulse in us to pursue Him.

We get to know God the Father through God the Son.

Abraham - Genesis 12

Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, 70 elders - Exodus 24

Jesus came to Peter and His apostles - NT

Intimacy always requires trust.

Two spies never fall in love because they can= t trust each other.

You can trust the character of God.

- God never lies

- God never goes back on His Word

- God never changes

If God changes, what kind of God was he?

God cannot change because when you are perfect, you don= t need to change.

Intimacy with God requires a right relationship with Him.

If you= re not as intimate with God as you= d like to be, you need to move closer to Him.

James 4:8, 10 A Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.@

Just like many scriptures, here we see a command and then the way we fulfill the command.

If you want to get to know God, you= ll have to spend time with Him.

You can= t be holy in a hurry.

If your relationship with God isn= t going well, then you are the problem.

Intimacy requires stillness.

Henry Blackaby - We are a A doing@ people. I think God is asking us not to do something, but to stand there, get to know Him and adjust our life to Him.

Intimacy requires silence.

Don= t lose your spirit of worship and your ability to withdraw inwardly to meet God in adoring silence. (During the speech/sermon, there was a loud boom of thunder at this time!)

Since God= s right hand is the place of pleasure evermore, I= m going to spend time with Him.

Stop doing a lot of things you are doing in order to deepen your relationship with God.

Get alone with God where you can hear Him.

Ask Him to meet you at your secret place.

Shut out the cares and noise of the day.

If you don= t leave your cares and worries with God, they will be bigger, tomorrow.

Keep a quiet heart when you are in His presence.

Be still before Him and let Him come to you.

If you= ve found joy in God= s presence, by simply meeting with Him and being in His presence, you have found a missing jewel that few people have sought in recent history.

Make sure you have clean hands and a pure heart when you approach God.

One-World Religion Prophecies

Revelation 13:8 A

In Matthew 24:4, 11, 24 - Jesus repeats that there will be deception three times

2 Timothy 4:3 - divisive doctrines

2 Thessalonians 2:3, 1 Timothy 4:1 - great apostasy

Revelation 17 and 18 - one world religion and government

2 Timothy 3:5 - having a form of godliness, but denying it= s power

1 Timothy 4:1-3 - people follow doctrines of demons

2 Peter 2:2, 13 - false teachers revel

Revelation 3:16, 17 - lukewarmness abounds

The unholy trinity is Satan, the Anti-Christ and the Beast.

Anti-Christ: opposed to the true Christ and trying to take His place

The one-world religion will be a formation of non-Christian religions who deny Jesus Christ.

The line between the professing church and world religions is getting more and more blurred.

Two factors in ecumenicalism in the days ahead:

The World Council of Churches - 1948 - 342 Protestant denominations moving forward to unite religions

United Religions Initiative - Unification of the World= s Religions - signed in June 2000

World Religions= anti-biblical beliefs:

1. Salvation by works

2. Spiritually dead

3. Many ways to God

4. Politically correct, not biblically correct

5. Bonded in unity by a spirit (non the Holy Spirit)

World Religions

1. Divine revelation from extra-biblical sources

2. Blinded by the Devil (not called by God, cannot see the light of the gospel)

3. Seeks common faith (not biblical faith)

4. Tolerant of all faiths

5. Devoted to worldly agendas (not Christ and His Word), i.e. save the planet, envirog

1-24-02 - Pope John Paul II called the leaders of all the major, world religions and discussed ecumenicalism. Jesus= name was not mentioned. All religious objects were either covered or removed in this meeting.

The Roman Catholic Church Is The Hub

1. Vatican claims to be political and religious headquarters of God= s kingdom

2. Claims Pope is infallible

3. Building bridges to all religions and denominations

4.

See the Vatican= s efforts to unite all religions at his web site.

John 17:20, 21 reads, A I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.@

Vatican= s Strategy For Unity

1. Redefining evangelical terms to make them ambiguous, vague and acceptable to all

2. Take advantage of lack of discernment

3. Cover gospel of works with veneer of truth

4. Promoted ecumenicalism

5. Encourages A separated@ to come to A Holy Mother Church@

In Galatians 1, Paul condemns the Judaizers for adding one, earthly

Schuller, Crouch, Robertson, Van Impe, Bright, B. Graham and Colson - these guys promote ecumenicalism and deny the major differences with Catholics and encourage unity with them

Some of the areas Biblical Christians differ from Catholics

the essentials of the Gospel

how one is born again

how one is justified

how one is preserved in grace

hoe one is purified of sin

who can enter Heaven

If you know doctrine, you= ll know division. If you don= t know doctrine, you won= t know division. Know doctrine, know division. No doctrine, no division.

When doctrines are suppressed, there are no differences between believers and unbelievers.

Vatican II didn= t change any of the core, Catholic beliefs that differ from Christianity

Pope John Paul II encourages ecumenicalism, not through Jesus Christ, but through Mary (specifically in 1995 - Et Unum Sint).

If you believe you= re justified by faith alone, you are condemned by the Catholic church.

The papacy is the successor of Constantine, not Peter.

The Archbishop of Canterbury resides over 70 million Anglicans. The Pope has befriended him and encouraged him to unify with Catholics.

Many evangelic Christians have suggested we water down the gospel, so it= s not offensive.

The Apostle Paul exposed many false teachers in his writings. Do the same.

Interfaith dialogue: Muslims, Buddhists, Jews and Hindus (even witch doctors in Africa)

The Eucharist is the non-negotiable sacrament for religious unity. Bowing down to the wafer and believing it has become Jesus Christ.

Muslims are included in God= s plan of salvation in the catechism of the Roman Catholic Church. - Paragraph 841

John Paul II has said that you don= t need to know Jesus. A Obeying the beatitudes will get you to Heaven@ .

Fatima, Portugal was the place where an apparition of Mary was seen. This is likely to continue because Fatima is a Muslim place and Muslims are being encouraged to unite with Catholics.

Francis Arinze - Nigerian Cardinal - may be the successor to the Pope

There is no other office on Earth that is like the world leading church in Revelation.

Pope John Paul II -

Preaches another gospel

Infallible head of the church

Called Holy Father

Teaches evolution is true

Loved by the world

Minister of righteousness

Has met 766 heads of state

In 1870, Spurgeon has spoken against the Pope and even prophesied about his future role in the end times scenario.

What do we do with those that teach false doctrines?

1. Mark and avoid them

2. Come out from among them

3. Shun their babbling

4. Turn away from them

5. Reject them

6. Reprove them severely

7. Do not receive them

8. Do not be partakers with them; expose their evil deeds

(The above had scripture references, but I couldn= t copy all of them before the next slide.)

There is a vast contrast between the Apostles and many of the modern day evangelicals.

Did Paul seek unity? Paul told them they were condemned for preaching another gospel. Jude, John and Peter did the same.

Only by knowing the truth can we discern truth from error.

False prophets may not be recognized by their appearance. Their false gospels and doctrines will reveal them.

Those who want to maintain proper doctrines will become the minority.

When people are distorting the gospel of Jesus Christ, approach them in love.

Will you seek the approval of men or seek the approval of God?

Would you stand alone and contend for the faith?

Biblical unity is a work of the Holy Spirit and not of humans.

We are to keep the unity of the Spirit, not of all humans.

Frank Peretti - The Charge

Love, know, speak and think the truth.

Now, people aren= t saying they don= t know the truth. They= re saying there is no truth.

The truth will not pamper you.

When you violate the truth, it can haul off and bite ya.

1. Truth Matters - it applies to our life

2. Truth Exists - it= s really there (philosophical)

3. Truth Has To Come From Somewhere - you can= t just make it up (it needs ultimacy)

1. Truth Matters

Romans 1:18, 19 reads, A For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.@

If we want to get involved with unrighteousness, we have to get around the truth.

In the old days, even the bad guys knew they were bad.

Unrighteous people don= t want to hear about the A no-no= s@ .

From Clinton to O.J. to Columbine, wickedness has suppressed the truth because wickedness and truth do not get along.

Rationalization is giving a number of reasons for what you= re doing without giving the real reason.

If you love your child, you= ll tell them to stay away from drugs.

It= s astonishing how love is portrayed as hate in our society.

If I really hated someone, I= d tell them to indulge in wicked lifestyles.

True moral character and truth are inseparable.

The compass can= t point North if there is no North.

You cannot have a moral compass unless you have a morality to which it can point.

If you= re making up your own truth, then you are lost.

If you= re searching for truth, don= t look within yourself. You= re the one that= s confused.

People are either:

1. Trying to conform their desires to the truth OR

2. Trying to conform the truth to their desires

2. Truth Exists -

When you hear something that is contrary to what is obviously observable, you have to try and justify it with lies.

The correspondence view of truth: truth has to match with observable reality

We play such games with the truth.

Funny Truisms:

A You can= t say the truth is absolute. That= s wrong!@

A Truth is relative.@ (Is this statement relative or true?)

A There are no absolutes!@

A It= s wrong to impose your morals on others.@ (Isn= t this what you= re doing by telling me I= m wrong?)

A Who knows what the truth is, right?@ (Spoken by college professors)

A Everything is meaningless.@ (Then so is your statement)

A Everything we believe and think is a product of our culture and upbringing, so nobody= s opinion is truly valid.@

A You can= t go around telling people there are absolutes, rights and wrongs.@

A People should be able to believe whatever they want!@ (Then why are you arguing with me?)

A We all create our own reality.@ (Then I= m your fault and you should take it up with yourself.)

We make absolute fools of ourselves trying to justify our rebellion, sin and self-will against God.

Don= t try and tell me that there isn= t truth and God isn= t fair. If there isn= t truth, then we have no way to judge what is fair and what is not fair.

People quarrel because they assume there is a fixed scheme of justice and truth and at that moment, they are not getting their fair share of it.

3. Truth Has To Come From Somewhere -

Who says?

When there is no truth, brute force takes it= s place.

The Roman Centurion understood how authority works. He knew his servant would be healed if Jesus said the word (and he was).

Plato called it A the ultimate good@ .

Aristotle wanted people to use their minds to put together the jigsaw puzzle of absolute truth.

The ancient Greeks and Romans wanted to hold the culture together with good character and be able to determine the difference between it and bad character.

If all of morality is culturally derived, how can we say: You can= t do that! How can you answer the question: Who says I should do this?

The Greek gods were just as immoral as they were.

In the Renaissance, people thought they could find truth by reason alone.

The French Revolution in 1791 - tried to come up with a Constitution

1792 - dressed up a woman as the goddess of reason

1794 - France resembled a huge riot with coups, murders, guillotines, etc. All of this was in the name of freedom and liberty.

The result of the French Revolution was a greater tyranny under Napoleon. This culture was never free because they didn= t have God.

You cannot argue about truth (right and wrong) without an ultimate source of it from God.

The only reason why we have freedom today is because we had a basis for truth and morality when this country began.

Freud - everything I do is everybody else= s fault

Marx - give me your money and I= ll be a better person

Darwin - no right or wrong, just survival

New Age - there is no truth, but the truth in yourself

Earth-centered religions - nature cares about right or wrong

Extraterrestrials - messiahs are in outer space

We have confused ourselves away from having a sense of ultimacy (of the truth).

You can= t teach character to kids and simultaneously tell them their lives were the result of a cosmic accident.

In some cultures they love their neighbors and in some cultures they eat their neighbors. If you think one group is wrong, then you better know why.

Truth is above all of us, regardless of where we live or what we think.

The truth is the truth for all people, in all places, at all times. - Josh McDowell

How you live your life is going to be directly related to what you feel about truth.

If you think there is no truth, you= ll find it very easy to lie.

If you believe in evolution, then you= ll resort to ruthless measures to make sure you survive, even if others don= t.

Bill Hosch - ICR

Bill showed a slide show and described it. This didn= t translate into much text.

2 Theories For the Grand Canyon= s Formation:

1. A little bit of water and a lot of time

2. A lot of water and a little bit of time (the Havasu Indians that live in the canyon believe this: the gods were upset at them and sent a flood, but a family was saved in a boat)

More and more secular geologists are embracing a rapid formation of the Grand Canyon.

There is a small river in the valley formed by the mudslide during the Mount Saint Helens eruption. This river had nothing to do with the canyon= s formation.

The Grand Canyon has a river that is simply passing through, too. This river didn= t cause the canyon.

Geology turned Darwin= s ear to evolution in a philosophical way. He thought that things formed very slowly, over time, due to the way they looked. This brought him to Galapagos to try and prove things scientifically by observing small changes in animal life.

Spirit Lake contains a A forest@ of underwater logs that are submerged and stuck in the bottom of the lake in a vertical position.

In Specimen Ridge, at Yellowstone National Park, they used to say all of these logs evolved and took long ages of time. Scientists have reinterpreted the logs here and said they floated here from other locations and got stuck here.

Coal is mummified tree bark. Scientists claim logs got stuck in tar pits, then it was converted to peat and finally coal.

Fossilization points to massive catastrophes, not extremely long periods of time.

Darryl Kraft - Marriage

3 Scriptural Truths That Can Transform a Marriage:

1. God says we need His help

Genesis 2:18 reads, A And the LORD God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.@ (A Suited to his needs@ - Living Bible, A suited for completing him@ - Berkeley translation)

God created wives because husbands need help.

Ecclesiastes 9:9 reads, A Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which He has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity; for that is your portion in life, and in the labor which you perform under the sun.@

(Not your job, your kids or anything else but your wife is mentioned here.)

Be with your spouse and prioritize them.

Seek your spouse= s opinion and counsel.

Remember that you= re half of the whole and need the other one in numerous, if not all, areas.

Are you listening because you= re interested or because you= re trying to seem polite?

Does time with your spouse mean a lot to you?

2. Marriage Is A Trust (not a partnership)

Ephesians 5:25 A Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.@

(Not necessarily loving them as they love you.)

Contrary to common teaching, marriage isn= t a partnership or a two-way street. You may not get what you give. Your giving and love isn= t dependent on your spouse.

Avoid nitpicking and words of disapproval.

A Why did you do that?@ A You should have done ______!@

1 Peter 1:9 reads, A For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.@

Don= t forget that your spouse is blameless in God= s eyes.

Pray and discover when to discuss someone= s faults and when to simply pray about them and be quiet.

Your problems are likely due to your own sin and not your spouse= s.

Let God change your heart from daily criticism to daily praise for your spouse.

Demons and our flesh make it difficult to love your spouse.

Your prayers are hindered when you= re not considerate of your spouse.

1 Peter 3:7 reads, A Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.@

God purposely made wives more fragile and sensitive than husbands.

Men are like a cast iron skillet and women like a beautiful china plate.

God made wives more sensitive, so they could see and feel things husbands don= t.

Don= t discount or discredit your spouse= s tears.

God is resurrecting new life from our ashes when we desire to give Him all of our wretched self.

The Bible teaches clearly that the creation began about 6000 years ago.

The time before the flood was very different.

People lived 900 years old. 912 years was the average age. Now, the average age is 70-80.

2 Peter 3:3-5 reads, A Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation. For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water.@

People scoff at the Bible because of their lusts and lifestyle, not their science.

God didn= t lift a finger when he made the universe.

The scoffers are willingly ignorant of:

1. The creation

2. The flood

3. The coming judgment

Unbelievers don= t want to admit there was a flood sent by God as judgment because this would admit God could judge His creation.

Genesis 1:20 - birds flew in the firmament of heaven

The first heaven is the atmosphere. The second is where the stars are sitting. The third is where God dwells.

There was once

Psalm 140 indicates there is water above the stars. God sits on many waters.

The stretching of the heavens is likely why we have the red shift.

There are no atheists because in order to know there isn=t a God, you would have to know all information available to all humans.

There are a lot of different beliefs about Jesus, today. There is only one biblical perspective, though.

Christianity is based on a real person that lived in real history.

Much of history is based on faith and historical evidence.

There are seven people who wrote about Jesus Christ: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, Peter and James.

There are 15,000 words in the Encyclopedia Britannica (Chicago) and nothing doubting His existence.

Most university professors will tell students that Jesus was indeed a person, but the myths and legends about Him are not true.

The following are scriptures that indicate they were written by eyewitnesses of Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:16 "For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty."

1 John 1:1-4 "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of lifeC the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to usC that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full."

Luke 1:1-4 "Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed."

Acts 1:1-3 "The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God."

Acts 2:32 A This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.@

Acts 4:19, 20 "But Peter and John answered and said to them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard."

Acts 10:39-41 A And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly, not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.@

Galatians 1:20 A (Now concerning the things which I write to you, indeed, before God, I do not lie.)@

A You killed Him, but God raised Him.@ This was an early church creed.

F.F. Bruce wrote A The New Testament Documents: Are They Reliable?@

Albright and Robinson both dated the New Testament books as before 70 A.D.

These books came out when people who were hostile to Jesus were still living.

Both sides would be interested in correcting these accounts if they were incorrect.

Today, people could remember many details about the way Kennedy died. This happened 39 years ago.

Nobody could get by the facts about Kennedy= s assassination because the witnesses are still alive. People would come forward and argue against assertions that were false.

Archaeology proves that Luke as accurate on every account. Cities, kings, etc.

If a person is accurate on every account you can test, then there is a super chance they are correct on the one chance you cannot prove.

Does Jesus know you? Talk to Him and accept Him, then you= ll know that He knows you.

Some people know about Jesus, but don= t have a relationship with Him.

God wanted us to be inspired by Bible prophecy.

Whenever the church is driven by the notion that Christ could return at any time, the following things happen:

2. Evangelism

Prophecy is history in advance.

Prophecy is written to see who God is and how supernatural He is.

No human can write prophecy without God= s inspiration.

Even the Devil can= t write prophecy.

Over 500 biblical prophecies have been fulfilled.

Isaiah 46:9, 10 - A Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure.@

Only God can declare the end from the beginning.

All false religions of the world can be traced to Babylon.

Daniel 2 - Daniel interprets Nebuchadnezzar= s dream when all of the false religious leaders could not.

Iron and clay will not mix.

The clay can represent humans. Iron can represent government.

Democracy may be the merging government that is represented here.

Each kingdom in this dream is replaced by a weaker kingdom.

The ancient Roman government= s philosophies are relative to the liberal democrat party and like views, today.

In July, 2002, George Bush refused to sign the U.S.= s sovereignty over to the World Court.

There have been exactly 4 World Kingdoms because that is what God prophesied and planned (this is in Daniel 2).

God could take you to Heaven any day, so you should examine and purify yourself each day.

God put 7 prophetic curses on Tyre because of their treatment of the Israelites and they are still in effect, today.

All civilizations that have been out of their homeland for 300-500 years has merged with the people where they lived; except Israel.

Who were the prophets? - 1 Peter 1:19, 20 - Holy men of God

Only the Bible shines light on the future.

The prophet who had the greatest revival in the history of the world was upset for having it. (Jonah)

God isn= t just interested in having the good people turn to Him. He is talking to all people; even the wretched sinners.

God specializes in welcoming the unworthy people.

God= s mercy is shown in Revelation by:

1. Sending 144,000 on-fire, Jewish evangelists

2. Two witnesses with prophetic and miracle-working power

3. An angel of mercy

Psalm 51 is David= s prayer of mercy to God after his sin with Bathsheba.

Cast yourself on the mercies of God.

We don= t have to approach God in an impersonal way. We can approach Him as our Heavenly Father.

Prophecy reveals the wonderful plan our merciful God has for our future.

Christ= s Second coming was called His Glorious Appearing by Paul.

The Millennium Kingdom will be like Utopia. After Utopia, Heaven is our next stop!

Christians don= t only have a corner on the present, but also on the future.

For the Christians, this world is as bad as it gets. For the unbelievers, this world is as good as it gets.

Bob Cornuke - Paul's Shipwreck On Malta - Anchors Found

They travel to Myra and then Crete. The weather was getting poor, so they sailed to Phoenix.

Along the South side of Crete, they experienced winds. They experienced a A Euroclydon@ now called a A Northeaster@ .

Paul was on a huge, Alexandrian (Egyptian) grain ship (freighter) and 276 men survived the shipwreck on Malta. People celebrated when these big ships arrived because it meant vital food was there.

These boats are between 180'-235'. Some held 600 people.

Syrtis Sands - now the Skeleton Sea - they didn= t want to hit this spot because they wouldn= t make it out alive

Sounding: huge pieces of lead that looked like a bell, the open portion was smeared with tar/animal fat/grease and when they dropped it overboard, sand/dirt would stick on it, indicating how deep it was

Malta was not recognized by the sailors. The island is 17 miles long, 8 miles wide. The East side had 3 Roman ports. These seasoned sailors would have recognized this side of the island.

Since they saw a beach, this eliminates the West side which is all cliffs. 90% of the Maltan coast is cliffs.

Acts 27:29 - Four anchors were dropped at 15 fathoms before they dropped the anchors. A fathom is about 6'. Therefore, these anchors were dropped around 90'.

Verse 41 - This indicates it was a place with a reef; likely 30 feet deep.

In 1972, they found 4 anchors in the exact spot that scripture says.

Bob talked to some A underwater cowboys@ that had been diving when people first began diving in Malta. They hunted grouper fish to sell to local fish restaurants.

5 2 feet long 550 pounds - each anchor

3 anchors had been found. These stories were told by a famous diver on Malta. Tom Mick had orchestrated the expedition. They had some opposition and weather problems, but they pulled 3 out of the water.

A widow had the 4^th anchor and showed it to Bob Cornuke (the video was shown).

This find conflicts with the 12^th century belief that Paul= s ship wrecked in the North part of the island. Millions of dollars have been spent to try and find these anchors on this part of the island. There is a place called St. Paul= s Bay on the North side of the island.

The Bible says they went toward Africa and came up from the South. This contradicts the 12^th century theory.

A 13 million dollar computer program was able to input the boat= s size, all the wind currents and the geography. After calculating everything, it predicted that the ship would have wrecked within a mile of the biblical account.

Bush met Gorbachev on Malta in 1989 and there was a terrible storm.

Dr. Anthony Bonano - University of Malta - decreed these anchors were from the time of 60 A.D.

So many details in Paul= s description of the shipwreck is a noteworthy fact. The Bible wasn= t written haphazardly. Every detail is extremely important and absolutely correct.

There is no spiritual Switzerland. God calls us to a side.
