Hello!

I pray you had a great, Jesus-filled weekend!

A week ago someone broke into my van and stole two guitars, a bunch of Christian CDs and my effects pedal. I actually saw the thieves as they were leaving, so I called the Police and give them their license plate number. Within an hour, one thief was caught. By the end of the night, I had the expensive guitar and effects pedal back!

It was amazing to see what God did after we prayed. The Police said it was a miracle that we got those things back. I'm praying I get the other guitar and all the CDs back, too. They said I'm "too Christian" for having so much hope. I pray they have more hope.

Please pray that the thief quits stealing. He is in jail, now, because of this burglary and his prior one. On June 4th, I'll go to court and see if we can get restitution. We'll see what God does next.

When you have a minute, please take JCSM's Salvation Web Poll. You can find why many people think they are saved. Plus, you can click and tell us why you believe you are going to Heaven. Go here: http://jcsm.org/salvation/

Is it hard for you to be bold on the web? I pray that you are fearless and courageous. Don't worry about people seeing your screen name and persecuting you. There's really nothing they can do to you. Stand up for Christ! Share the gospel. Put Jesus Christ in your profile!

Recently, I came across an old link that shows Christian artists' touring schedule, booking information and much more. Many artists are included. If you'd like to see this site, just go here: http://www.thirdcoastartists.com/tour.html.

The Christian Musician page has been totally updated. Many new and current artists are on it, now. Their links to their web pages is here: http://www.jcsm.org/ChristianMusic.htm.

Did Jesus really exist? Would you like to see some extra-biblical accounts (documented information that isn't from the Bible) of His presence on Earth? Check it out here: http://www.jcsm.org/biblelessons/didJesusreallyexist.htm

Do you know much about your primary spiritual enemy? Yes, I'm talking about Satan. Honestly, how much do you know about him, his origin, his ways, his limitations, his future, etc.? There are two, awesome web pages that tell you all those things. Here they are: Genesis 3: Satan Revealed - The Fall From Eden: http://www.jcsm.org/biblelessons/genesis3.htm, and the Facts On Satan: http://www.jcsm.org/biblelessons/satan.htm.

JCSM now has over 15,000 email addresses! While I did my 40 day fast, I was praying that the ministry list would reach 10,000. 6 months later it has reached 15,000. Thanks for your prayers and support! It's awesome to see the work load increase because it means more people are getting reached with the good news.

Are you interested in doing an online Bible study with 12-19 year old believers? Recently, I've received some interest in a study of this nature. If you're interested, please email me. We can choose a time to meet online. We'll pick a chapter of the Bible and do a verse by verse Bible study. It'll be fun and awesome and it'll only take about an hour.

Are you curious about the Festival Con Dios? It's going to be an incredible festival. If you'd like to see who's playing or if it's coming to your area, just go here: http://www.festivalcondios.com.

There is a new addition to the weekly devotional messages. We will now be defining a "Bible Word of the Week." These words will be some of the "big" words you hear at church. It's important that we understand God's Word. It's also important that we understand our preachers and know how to talk accurately about the Bible. Hopefully, reading these words and definitions will increase your knowledge and help you in your spiritual walk.

In addition to the Word of the Week, there is another addition to the devotions. We have added an excerpt from, "The Revised and Expanded Answers Book" in each devotional. This book was purchased at the Institute for Creation Research. This new section of the devotions will explain a creation truth. It will increase your faith as you learn how the Earth and all of the universe was created by God, not by chance.

Do you need a beach party and Bible study? Well, if you're in the Oceanside area, you're in luck. New Venture Christian Fellowship is having a bonfire, barbeque, guitar worship and a message on Friday, June 1st. We'll be meeting at the Oceanside pier and it'll begin at 7pm! If you're around and want to hang out with a great group of Christians, come and check it out.

I hope you persevere in your spiritual growth! We are always being squeezed by external pressure (like stress). Like we see orange juice when we squeeze an orange, what is inside of us is revealed when we are squeezed. When you are tried and tested, remember that God is faithful! He promises to finish the work He began in you.

*** Are you receiving about twelve pages with this message? If this message is truncated, and perhaps you're only receiving half of it, you can always find these devotions on my web site! Simply go here: http://devos.jcsm.org.

This is your ministry, so please feel free to link to JCSM and forward these devotions to your friends and family. On the JCSM website, there are over 1500 links (pictures, midis, Bible lessons, humor, proverbial stories, links, devotions, poetry, prayer journals and much more!) and it has registered over 46,000 hits!

If this ministry has touched you in a special way, please pray and consider sending a gift to Jesus Christ Saves Ministries. On the web, we're encouraging the believers and sharing the gospel with unbelievers. We're also doing counseling on a regular basis. As we do full-time ministry on the web, love and help others, there is never a charge for our time and services.

Would you like to support God's work on the web? You can join us in our vision to reach people on the web with the good news! Please email me or see our address below.

Welcome to the new screen names or recipients of this message! Here are the devotions, challenge, moment of introspection, the Bible word of the week, the Bible trivia question, last week's trivia answer, an excerpt from "The Revised and Expanded Answers Book" and the quotations for the week. Have a fantastic week and God bless you!

The Weekly Devotional Message

Day 1: "God's Temple"

1 Corinthians 3:16 "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?"

2 Corinthians 6:16 "And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people."

Acts 17:24 "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands."

Prayer: "Thank you for dwelling within us! Thank you for letting us worship You, praise You and find You anywhere. Thank you for being bigger than any temple or building. Remind us that You are everywhere, always. Praise You for being faithful. Thank you for accepting our praise and worship. Thank you for being such an awesome God! There's no other God like You! Help us to keep our temples pure and clean. Convict us, so we exercise, eat well and abstain from smoking and alcohol. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 2: "The Refining Process"

Ephesians 5:25-27 "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish."

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 "Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it."

John 17:19 "And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth."

1 Thessalonians 4:3a "For this is the will of God, your sanctification."

Joshua 3:5 "And Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you."

Hebrews 10:14 "For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified."

Prayer: "Thank you for wanting us to be like You. Thank you for refining us and sanctifying us. Show us where we need to change, Lord. Show us how You really are. Thank you for making the sanctification process a worthy desire. Thank you for giving us something awesome and courageous to do while we're on the Earth. Thank you for promising to complete the work that You began in us. Thank you for meeting us where we are and taking us where You want us to be. Help us to be diligent in our pursuit of godliness! In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 3: "Here I Am!"

Isaiah 6:8 "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us? Then I said, Here am I! Send me."

Acts 9:10 "Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Here I am, Lord."

1 Samuel 3:4 "The LORD called Samuel. And he answered, Here I am!"

Genesis 22:1 "Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, Abraham! And he said, Here I am."

Prayer: "Here I am, Lord! Here I am. Thank you for calling people. Help us to hear your voice and respond with a willing heart. Thank you for wanting to do awesome things through us. Help us to see and know your plan. Thank you for using imperfect people to do your perfect work. Forgive us for ignoring your voice or pretending we didn't hear You. Let us be sensitive to your words. Give us boldness and courage. Remind us that your Spirit is always talking to us. Help us to obey You. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 4: "There is Joy in Diversity"

1 Corinthians 12:12-31 "For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many. If the foot should say, Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say, Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you; nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way."

1 Corinthians 10:17 "For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread."

Romans 12:4-8 "For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness."

Prayer: "Thank you for giving your followers spiritual gifts. Thank you that we are not all alike. Thank you for the diversity in gifts and the diversity in races, styles, tastes, languages, etc. Thank you for the way You have selected the body of Christ. Help us to appreciate all of our Christian brothers and sisters. Remind us that everyone plays an important role in your plan. Thank you for the loud people, the quiet people, the leaders, the listeners, the helpers, etc. Thank you for making us how we are. Help us to appreciate our gifts and not envy other people. Let us do the best with what we have, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 5: "Consider Your Ways"

Haggai 1:5 "Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways!

Proverbs 6:6-8 "Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest."

Proverb 14:12 "There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death."

Matthew 4:19 "Then He said to them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."

John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

Matthew 7:13, 14 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."

Prayer: "Thank you for wanting us to take a "reality check". Help us to examine our lives. Help us to be introspective, Lord. Thank you for giving us your Word. Thank you for the way that You reveal things to us. Thank you for Jesus Christ. Let us follow Him. Thank you for giving us a narrow, yet exciting way! Let us consider our ways. Help us to quit doing anything that is harmful. Help us to start doing things that are healthy for us and beneficial for others. Give us unselfishness and help us to serve others. To You be all the glory, honor and praise! In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 6: "Prepare For Persecution"

1 Peter 4:12-16 "Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people's matters. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter."

Romans 8:35-36 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.'"

James 1:2, 3 "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience."

2 Timothy 3:12 "Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution."

Prayer: "Thank you for warning us about the persecution that we will face. Help us to persevere through persecution. Thank you for always being with us. Thank you for making an end to persecution and an end to our life on Earth! Remind us that there is a much better home for us in Heaven. Help the ones who do not get persecuted. Help them to realize they aren't making a difference, so Satan doesn't even need to persecute them. Help the ones who always get persecuted because they are a bold witness for Jesus Christ. Strengthen the saints, Lord. Make us very strong and bold. Remove our worries and fears. Help us to look up and know that humans can only hurt the flesh. Don't let us fear humans, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.'

Day 7: "The Unshakable Foundation"

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 "According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire."

Luke 6:47-49 "Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great."

Ephesians 2:19, 20 "Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone."

Prayer: "Praise You for being the unshakable foundation! Thank you for laying a foundation that can never be destroyed or changed. Thank you for being the Truth, Lord. Thank you for making us stand tall and strong when we stand on your foundation. Help us to understand and obey your truths.

Challenge

List your top 10 priorities for today. Where does Bible reading and prayer fall on the list? God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!

A Moment of Introspection

The quote, "Sermonettes produce Christianettes" was given to me by Kent Hildebrand, but it was originally spoken by Greg Laurie.

Is your pastor giving full sermons or is he giving you partial ones? Does your pastor talk more about administration than God's Word? Are you having trouble learning solid, biblical truths because he really isn't teaching any?

God wants pastors and teachers to thoroughly teach God's Word. They are to spend time preparing a lesson that will edify the body of Christ. If they aren't doing their job, a godly person will be able to tell. Plus, God will judge them.

If you are receiving a spiritual snack instead of a spiritual meal at your church services, please pray and seek God's direction. He could be preparing a better place for you to learn and grow! Perhaps there is a Bible class, in your church, that you could be getting deeper into God's Word.

If your pastor is preaching watered down, surface-level messages, it is his fault. However, if you stay in the pew, week after week, it will be your fault for not finding a better pastor and service. If you aren't being fed, simply seek God. You could also ask some of your Christian friends if they have any ideas for you. There must be a better service or class that you could attend.

The Bible Trivia Question

When did Jesus cry?

Last Week's Bible Trivia Answer

Peter walked on the water. See Matthew 14:28, 29.

An Excerpt from "The Revised and Expanded Answers Book" by Ken Ham, Jonathan Sarfati and Carl Wieland

What does the Bible tell us about the meaning of "day" in Genesis 1? A word can have more than one meaning, depending on the context. For instance, the English word "day" can have perhaps 14 different meanings. For example, consider the following sentence: "Back in my father's day, it took ten days to drive across the Australian Outback during the day." Here the first occurrence of "day" means "time" in a general sense. The second "day", where a number is used, refers to an ordinary day, and the third refers to the daylight period of the 24-hour period. The point is that words can have more than one meaning, depending on the context.
To understand the meaning of "day" in Genesis 1, we need to determine how the Hebrew word for "day," yom, is used in the context of Scripture. Consider the following:

- A typical concordance will illustrate that yom can have a range of meanings: a period of light as contrasted to night, a 24-hour period, time, a specific point of time, or a year.
- A classical, well-respected Hebrew-English lexicon (a one-way dictionary) has seven headings and many subheadings for the meaning of yom -- but defines the creation days of Genesis 1 as ordinary days under the heading "day as defined by evening and morning."
- A number, and the phrase "evening and morning," are used for each of the six days of creation (Genesis 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31).
- Outside Genesis 1, yom is used with a number 410 times, and each time it means an ordinary day -- why would Genesis 1 be the exception?
- Outside Genesis 1, yom is used with the word "evening" or "morning" 23 times. "Evening" and "morning" appear in association, but without yom, 38 times. All 61 times the text refers to an ordinary day -- why would Genesis 1 be the exception?
- In Genesis 1:5, yom occurs in context with the word "night." Outside of Genesis 1, "might" is used with yom 53 times -- and each time it means an ordinary day. Why would Genesis 1 be the exception? Even the usage of the word "light" with yom in this passage determines the meaning as ordinary day.
- The Hebrew word for "day," yom, is used in several ways in Genesis 1 that show that the days were ordinary days.
- The plural of yom, which does not appear in Genesis 1, can be used to communicate a longer time period, e.g., "in those days." Adding a number here would be nonsensical. Clearly, in Exodus 20:11 where a number us used with days, it unambiguously refers to six earth-rotation days.
- There are words in biblical Hebrew (such as olam or qedem) that are very suitable for communication long periods of time, or indefinite time, but none of these words are used in Genesis 1. Alternatively, the days or years could have been compared with grains of sand if long periods were meant.

These quotes came from God, me, the Inspirational Study Bible (with Max Lucado), Kent Hildebrand, Greg Laurie, Jeremy Camp and Miles McPhearson.

These quotes can be used for sanctification and fun. Most of them are directly based on scripture and scriptural principles. Some of my quotes are humorous or rhetorical. Some are written from sermons and Bible studies. Others are lyrics from songs. If you'd like me to go into more detail on any of them, please email me.

Like most verses in the Bible, they can be debated. To use what I have written in the most beneficial way, try and trace them back to the scriptures they were derived from and apply the true principles to your life in a meaningful way! Please don't sell my quotes or publish them for profit. If English is not your first language, you may not understand some of the quotes. I'm sorry, but some of them are English metaphors and deal with multiple word meanings. God bless you all!

Please make a commitment to pray for this ministry. As every believer is tempted and tried, this ministry faces trials also. God has blessed me, JCSM and the people who have been reached! Unfortunately, the enemy knows this and spiritual warfare is the result. Please, at least pray that the devotions continue to be sent religiously, the web pages stay on the www and the subscribers are blessed, sanctified and protected from evil. Thank you very much in advance!

Do you want to help people receive the good news? We have sent over 500,000 emails, encouraging people with God's Word! Please join us in the great commission. We're reaching new people every day with God's awesome Word! If God has blessed you and you wish to send a love offering to me and my ministry, please send it to the address below.

You can join our vision and help this ministry! Your donations will keep these ministries running and further our visions for evangelism. Hundreds of web pages have been created to lead people to the Lord. Frequently, we make new ones and they are used to bring more and more people into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. We're certain there will be more ways to reach people in the future. Along with getting support, we also give support! I regularly give to my church and frequently give to needy people. Lastly, I do a lot of research on religious topics on the internet and library. You will definitely see the results of our work and your support, in the web pages, and in the weekly devotional messages!

For more about me and my service history, go to http://resume.jcsm.org. For what I do, my ministries and giving, go to http://vision.jcsm.org.

If you have received these devotions from someone other than I, please email me and I will send them to you, personally, each week. Don't worry. I don't send forwards or any other junk mail. I also refrain from giving your name to anyone.

The devotions are sent on Monday nights. The gospel is sent on the 11th of every month and the monthly newsletter is sent on the 20th. These are the only messages I send, however, please email me if you wish to be removed from this list. If you prefer to receive the devotions in Spanish, send me a request because the devotions have been reaching the Spanish speaking community for over a year!

If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please email me! I would love to share the gospel with you. The Bible is very straightforward when it speaks about Heaven, Hell and eternal life. If there is any doubt that you are going to Heaven when you die, please let me know today!

Would you like to feed starving people by simply clicking a button and paying absolutely nothing? Sponsors pay to donate food to hungry people all over the world. I click these nearly every day. It takes about 10 seconds and it donates food to needy people! Go here: www.thehungersite.com and here www.stopthehunger.com.

Go here to donate free Bibles to people: http://www.TheBibleSite.org. If you want to join an organization that helps feed and clothe poor people, check into World Vision. You can see their site here: www.worldvision.com.

JCSM now does regular mailings! If you are getting rid of your email or know someone who wants the devotions, but doesn't have email, please give me their address and we'll send them the devotions. If you don't have internet access, but want to read a certain web page or Bible lesson, let me know. I could copy and paste something into an email message for you. If you have internet access and need a great, online, study Bible, go here: www.biblestudytools.net
