Hello!

You just won $5,000,000! Not really, but you have opened one of the most encouraging letters on the internet. Please keep reading and God will lift you up!

I pray you had a great week and weekend. I've been working on the web, coaching soccer, teaching guitar lessons, playing in my band and enjoying some extra time with God. Thanks for your prayers and encouragement!

For everyone in the United States, Thanksgiving is on Thursday! I hope you have a fantastic day. I'm going to be eating turkey, pie and other goodies at my parents' house. We have all my relatives over for a few hours. It should be great!

Speaking of the United States, has anyone been watching the election coverage? I've been watching it quite a bit and thank God we have a judicial system that is prepared for disagreements, appeals, recounts, etc. Many Americans are growing tired of the tedious election process. Please pray that the godliest man wins! God is in control and we will see the end, soon.

Please pray for my new guitar student. His name is Taylor and he's played for one year. We've had one practice and I'm looking forward to teaching him.

Did you know that JCSM has a forum? A forum is like a message board where you can post and read messages from other people. Please check it out and leave a message here: The JCSM Forum

My 40 day fast ended on Saturday. Praise the Lord because I made it! It was an incredible adventure. It's well documented, too. I have all my journals, frequently asked questions and more on my web site. Simply go here and read about this awesome journey: My 40 Day Fast

Two new albums are being released, today! Can you guess what they are? If you guessed DC Talk and Michael W. Smith, you were right! DC Talk is releasing a compilation cd called Intermission. It's a greatest hits album with an original song from each of the guys' solo music. MWS is releasing "Freedom", his first instrumental album. If you hurry, you can also receive a free acoustic cd with this album.

My web site has several new things! Please visit and see the new look on the Contents and Bible Lessons pages! Additionally, I've created a couple new web sites.

The Encouraging Songs Site is a new page where you can tell the world which musician and song has encouraged you! There are already a few great songs and we're waiting for you to visit and tell us yours.

Are you intrigued by the solar system and universe? Have you ever wondered which colors are on the planet Saturn? Would you like to learn more about outer space, asteroids, meteors, space shuttles and stars? If you've answered yes to any of those questions, you've really gotta visit The Awesome Astronomy Site!

Please pray for me and my driving situation. About a week ago, my truck broke down. Yesterday, I found that it will take $1800 to repair.

I'm leaning towards getting a newer truck and making a monthly payment. I don't have much extra money, so it's a difficult situation and time for me. I'm sure God will help and show me the best way. I simply need to wait and ask Him for wisdom. However, if you can offer some help or have an inexpensive truck for sale, please let me know.

This is National Bible Week! Please read your Bible every day and visit the National Bible Association Home Page. You can learn how they are helping others to read the Word.

At The Rock, we had a great, Christian band perform. They are called Limit X. They're a trio of African men who are really anointed by God! They got the whole church to dance and sing to the Lord! Please visit their web page. It's located here: www.limitx.com

Please visit my web page! There's over 1500 links (pictures, midis, Bible lessons, humor, proverbial stories, links, devotions, poetry, prayer journals and much more!) and it has registered over 38,300 hits!

If this ministry has touched you in a special way, please pray and consider sending a gift to Jesus Christ Saves Ministries. On the web, we're encouraging the believers and sharing the gospel with unbelievers. I'm also doing counseling on a regular basis. As I do full-time ministry on the web, love and help others, I never charge them anything for my time or services.

Would you like to support God's work on the web? You can become a Super Supporter of JCSM by sending only $5 a month. You'll be joining us in our vision to reach people on the web with the good news! Of course, a gift of any size will be appreciated! My address and more information is at the bottom of this message.

Welcome to the new screen names or recipients of this message! Here are the devotions, challenge and quotations for the week. Have a fantastic week and God bless you!

Love in Christ,

The Weekly Devotional Message

Day 1: "Pure Speech"

Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things."

Proverb 15:26 "The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD, But the words of the pure are pleasant."

Job 27:3, 4 "As long as my breath is in me, And the breath of God in my nostrils, My lips will not speak wickedness, Nor my tongue utter deceit."

Psalm 12:6 "The words of the LORD are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times."

Psalm 34:13 "Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit."

James 3:5-10 "Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so."

Ephesians 4:29 "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers."

Prayer: "Thank you for wanting us to speak pure words. Forgive us for speaking lies and forgive us for talking badly about others. Teach us how and when to speak, Lord. Thank you for guiding us with your awesome wisdom. Increase our wisdom! Let us say the things You would say. Remind us that words should be used with care. Help us encourage others, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 2: "Something About Stones"

Matthew 28:2, 3 "And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow."

1 Peter 2:7 "Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, 'The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone'."

Matthew 4:3, 4 "Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, 'If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.' But He answered and said, 'It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"

Matthew 24:2 "And Jesus said to them, 'Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down'."

John 1:42 "And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, 'You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas' (which is translated, A Stone)."

Isaiah 26:4 "Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD, is the Rock of Ages."

John 10:32 "Jesus answered them, 'Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?'"

Luke 19:39, 40 "And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, 'Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.' But He answered and said to them, 'I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out'."

Prayer: "Thank you for using something so seemingly mundane as stones to convey very powerful messages! Let us understand You and Your Word, Lord. Thank you for being the awesome corner stone of our salvation! There is no other Savior but You. Praise You for rolling away the stone of the tomb, not so You could get out, but so we could see in! Remind us that You are alive and well. Help us to have more faith in You, Lord. Reveal to us the awesome lessons in your Word and help us apply them. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 3: "Praise God With A Dance"

Psalm 149:3 "Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp."

Psalm 150:4 "Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!"

Ecclesiastes 3:4 "(There is) A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance;

1 Samuel 18:6 "Now it had happened as they were coming home, when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments."

2 Samuel 6:14 "Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod."

Psalm 30:11, 12 "You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever."

Prayer: "Thank you for wanting us to praise You with a dance! Praise the Lord! Help everyone to obey this command, Lord. Give us discernment and help us to apply this passage when we should and not use it to promote a lifestyle of clubbing or bar-hopping. Thank you for wanting us to do things that You desire because You want us to have better lives. Remind us to obey every command in Your Word, not just the convenient ones or the ones our pastors constantly tell us. To You be all the praise, honor and glory, forever and ever. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 4: "God is the Comforter"

Acts 9:31 "Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied."

Psalm 23:4 "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."

Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."

Prayer: "Thank you for comforting us, Lord. Help us to cry out to You when we need your comforting presence. Thank you for never leaving us! There's no other God like You. Thank you for continually giving us great things. Thank you for giving to us without holding a grudge! Your grace and mercy are so deep! Help us to always ask You for things, like a little child asks their earthly father. Praise You for being such a good God! Let the whole world know the joy and peace of Your comfort. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 5: "Purify My Heart"

Matthew 5:8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God."

1 Peter 1:22 "Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart."

Proverb 11:22 "He who loves purity of heart And has grace on his lips, The king will be his friend."

Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me."

Philippians 1:6 "Be confident of this very thing, that He who has began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."

James 4:8 "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."

Prayer: "Purify us, Lord. Thank you for starting the purification process when we accept You as Lord and Savior. Remind us that it will take a lifetime of hard work to be Holy and we still won't be sinless until we are glorified. Thank you for understanding our sins and failures and loving us anyway! Thank you for telling us that WE should purify our hearts! Give us the strength to investigate our own lives and confront sin. Thank you for giving us some of the responsibility for the purification process. Create a huge desire in us to seek You and be pure. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 6: "Follow His Lead"

Psalm 23:2 "He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters."

Matthew 4:19, 20 "Then He said to them, 'Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.' They immediately left their nets and followed Him."

Joshua 22:5b "Love the LORD your God, walk in all His ways, keep His commandments, hold fast to Him, and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul."

Psalm 128:1 "Blessed is every one who fears the LORD, Who walks in His ways."

Psalm 1:1-3 "Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper."

Prayer: "Thank you for always knowing where to lead us! You are the best guide in the universe. Give us more faith in You, Lord. Thank you for helping us and holding our hand in this wild world. Remind us that You are always on the throne, no matter how chaotic this world gets. Praise You for your power! Let us learn from You and become godly leaders. Thank you for being faithful to us. You are worthy of our praise and devotion! Help us to constantly thank and love You, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Day 7: "God Soothes Stress"

Proverb 12:25 "Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad."

Psalm 23:3 "He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake."

Luke 12:22, 23, 28-31 "Then He said to His disciples, 'Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.'"

Philippians 4:6, 7 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Prayer: "Thank you for soothing our stress, Lord. Remove our worries and fears. Remind us that You are the Rock and our feet are firmly in Your truth. Thank you for wanting us to be free from anxiety! Praise You, Lord! Help us discover ways to reduce and remove stress. Give us the wisdom and self-control to exercise, pray, eat right, read Your Word, obey You, etc. Forgive us for being stagnant and lazy. Remove our guilt, Lord, and remind us that today is a new day! Help us to be on fire for You. Remind us that there are more days left to do what we should. Help us to look ahead and not worry about what is behind us. Praise You for being the God of peace and order. To You be all the glory, honor and praise, forever and ever. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Challenge

Try using the following acronym when you pray! It is awesome and will help you pray about several important things. I've been using it, lately, and it has enhanced my prayers. Miles McPhearson from The Rock Church gave it to us.

AWCIPA (pronounced aw-sip-uh) -

Admire God

Wait on Him (listen)

Confess your sins

Interecede (pray) for others

Pray for yourself

Admire God

- Here is a paper I wrote on prayer. It will help you by giving you ideas of things to pray for. Are you willing to devote your life to prayer?

One of the most powerful things we have available to us is prayer. Some people have found the power of prayer, but many have not. Try setting aside a few minutes to pray each day. You won't regret it!

I've never heard any elderly person say, "I wish I would have prayed less." There is a terrific chance that the biggest regret we will have, when we get to Heaven, is not praying enough.

God bless you as you read this short paper and spend some time in prayer!

Prayer

Psalm 150:6 - Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.

God deserves our praise. Praise God for His--faithfulness, goodness, forgiveness, truth, love, power, sovereignty, mercy, patience, peace, perfection, holiness, wisdom, eternalness, changelessness, justness, and grace. Praise Him because He is all-knowing, ever-present and the Sustainer and Creator of the everything.

Ephesians 5:20 - Always give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We need to give God thanks. Thank God for--people, family, friends, enemies, teachers, situations (good, bad, and ugly), blessings (protection, wisdom, peace, love, conviction), provision (food, money, friends, family, shelter, freedom, school).

One time I was playing in the indoor soccer finals. We had a very good team and we were winning by a few goals. We started to enjoying our lead and we ended up losing it in the final minutes of the game. I was so upset. I didn't want to talk to anyone. I barely looked at anyone as I walked briskly to my car. Slamming the door, I sat there. When I decided to give God thanks for this loss, it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. God had a plan, as He always does. Perhaps I could learn more from this loss than I could have after a victory. It is nice to speculate as to why God does certain things, but it is essential that we give Him thanks. Then and only then, can we begin to see things through His eyes. When we see things through His eyes, we grow and become wise.

I John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, He'll forgive us.

When we confess our sins and accept God's forgiveness, our guilt and shame are removed. The time between sin and repentance determines our character. And the time between our repentance and when we forgive ourselves determines our maturity. Satan will try to make us feel guilty before we sin and after we are forgiven. He will also make us try and feel right when we sin. Identify his weapons, ask for forgiveness, and say "Shame, shut up."

James 4:2b - You don't have because you do not ask God.

We are not on God's permanent mailing list of blessings. We must ask Him and expect Him to answer. I began praying this prayer for 30 days, and I have been praying it for months because I have seen incredible results. It goes like this, "Bless me, increase my ministry, lay Your hand on me, and keep me from evil." During the first 30 days, I accepted a preaching job that I would not give up for the world. Since then I have made gospel tracts. We have passed them out as a group and I have passed hundreds out on my own. I have begun mentoring a high school boy. My ministry has increased dramatically. God has blessed me, kept me from evil, and given me more power than I could explain. I highly suggest that you pray this prayer in sincerity for 30 days and watch what happens. There is nothing magical about the wording of the prayer, but God wants to give these things to a sincere heart.

James 1:5 - If you lack wisdom, ask God, and He'll give it to you.

John 15:7 - God will always answer.

I John 5:14 - He always listens and gives in line with His will.

Philippians 4:6 - Don't worry; pray about anything. Tell Him your needs, thank Him for answers.

Romans 11:36 - From Him and through Him and to Him are all things.

These quotes came from God, me, the Inspirational Study Bible (with Max Lucado), Tyrone Moore and Miles McPhearson.

These quotes can be used for sanctification and fun. Most of them are directly based on scripture and scriptural principles. Some of my quotes are humorous or rhetorical. Some are written from sermons and Bible studies. Others are lyrics from songs. If you'd like me to go into more detail on any of them, please email me.

Like most verses in the Bible, they can be debated. To use what I have written in the most beneficial way, try and trace them back to the scriptures they were derived from and apply the true principles to your life in a meaningful way! Please don't sell my quotes or publish them for profit. If English is not your first language, you may not understand some of the quotes. I'm sorry, but some of them are English metaphors and deal with multiple word meanings. God bless you all!

Please make a commitment to pray for this ministry. As every believer is tempted and tried, this ministry faces trials also. God has blessed me, JCSM and the people who have been reached! Unfortunately, the enemy knows this and spiritual warfare is the result. Please, at least pray that the devotions continue to be sent religiously, the web pages stay on the www and the subscribers are blessed, sanctified and protected from evil. Thank you very much in advance!

Do you want to help people receive the good news? I have sent over 500,000 emails, encouraging people with God's Word! Please join me in the great commission. I'm reaching new people every day with God's awesome Word! If God has blessed you and you wish to send a love offering to me and my ministry, please send it to the address below.

You can help this ministry! Your donations will keep my ministries running and they further my visions for evangelism. The internet, the telephone (volunteering time for the Youth Crisis hotline), the guitar, singing and gospel tracts are some ways that I encourage people and lead them to Christ. I'm certain there will be more ways to reach people in the future. Along with getting support, I also give support! I regularly give to my church and frequently give to needy people. Lastly, I do a lot of research on religious topics on the internet and at the library. You will definitely see the results of my work on my web page and in the weekly messages!

For more about me and my service history, go to http://resume.jcsm.org. For what I do, my ministries and giving, go to http://vision.jcsm.org

If you have received these devotions from someone other than I, please email me and I will send them to you, personally, each week. Don't worry. I don't send forwards or any other junk mail. I also refrain from giving your name to anyone.

The devotions are sent on Monday nights. The gospel is sent on the 11th of every month and the monthly newsletter is sent on the 20th. These are the only messages I send, however, please email me if you wish to be removed from this list. If you prefer to receive the devotions in Spanish, send me a request because the devotions have been reaching the Spanish speaking community for over a year!

If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please email me! I would love to share the gospel with you. The Bible is very straightforward when it speaks about Heaven, Hell and eternal life. If there is any doubt that you are going to Heaven when you die, please let me know today!

Are you having trouble in life? Do you need someone to talk to? You can call the youth crisis hotline at 1-800-HIT-HOME, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I'm currently volunteering time for this hotline. Our motto is "help, not hassle". We will listen to you and encourage you. If you are hurting and need someone to talk to, please feel free to call. YDI pays for these calls and has helped over 1 million people! They are also looking for people to answer calls. Their web site is at www.1800hithome.com

Would you like to feed starving people by simply clicking a button and paying absolutely nothing? Sponsors pay to donate food to hungry people all over the world. I click these nearly every day. It takes about 10 seconds and it donates food to needy people! Go here: www.thehungersite.com and here www.stopthehunger.com

JCSM now does regular mailings! If you are getting rid of your email or know someone who wants the devotions, but doesn't have email, please give me their address and we'll send them the devotions. If you don't have internet access, but want to read a certain web page or Bible lesson, let me know. I could copy and paste something into an email message for you.

Since April of 1997, the weekly devotional message has been sent on the internet. This message currently reaches 6035 people in 98 countries. To read a list of these countries, go here: http://www.jcsm.org/misc/countries.htm. To read the archived devotions online, go here: http://devos.jcsm.org.
