At one time, I believed that most religious people that believe in Jesus were the same. This was an optimistic point of view. There are a lot of differences between the major world religions. This list of religions, cults, sects and movements is not conclusive, but the links will teach you about what they believe, among other things.

It would help you greatly to have a large understanding of God's Word (the Bible), the gospel, and the essential doctrines of Christianity. When you know His Word, you can use it as a litmus test and compare anything you hear and read against the unchanging truth.
