Cassius Marcellus Clay (1810-1903), served as a statesman and as a diplomat to Russia under both President Lincoln and President Grant. He was a strong opponent of slavery and greatly involved in the abolitionist movement. Cassius Marcellus Clay declared:
"The Bible, the record of Divine Revelation, is the one
Book of religion and morals. Of all religious systems the Christian is most
in unison with the law of God and the needs of man. The spirit of God
inspires all living things. Jesus Christ is the leading inspiration, and is,
therefore Divine." ¹
